Please come and support our school while growing your student’s love of reading! Book Fair will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and will stay open late on Thursday, December 7th. There are so many exciting events attached to our Book Fair that it’s impossible to list them all here!! Book Fair packets will come home with your student Monday, November 27th, and there are informative links for everything else on the library bookfair website. Check it out!
"DRESS THE TURKEY" STUDENT COUNCIL CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Student Council is sponsoring a Canned Food Drive! K-2 and 3-5 are competing to see who can “dress the turkey” with the most feathers. For every 5 cans each student brings in, they will get one feather. If they bring in 15, they will receive a gold feather which counts as 4 feathers. The turkey with the most feathers wins, and that turkey’s teacher will dress up as a turkey!
This year, the grade level that brings in the most cans in all, will also a SPIRIT STICK!
K-2 are being represented by Ms. Bui and 3-5 are being represented by Mrs. Turnbull!
This food drive goes through November 29th.
Science and Engineering Fair
It is time once again to prepare for the Science and Engineering Fair! Look out for a green interest letter in your child’s Thursday folder this week. All projects for the fair will be due on Monday, January 22, 2018. If you have any questions or if you are interested in judging the event, please contact Devon Ryan at Devon.Ryan@pisd.edu.
PACE REFERRALS
PACE stands for Plano Academic and Creative Education and is the cornerstone of the district's gifted and talented education program. PACE is more than a course; it is a motivating and challenging experience that lasts over multiple years of a student's education.
The PACE program provides an invigorating, creative, and rigorous learning environment to nurture the unique academic and social - emotional needs of students requiring gifted and talented services.
For more information and if you feel as if your child is need of these services, please complete the online referral form found at www.pisd.edu/giftededucation.
Kindergarten students are assessed in the second semester for services beginning in March of the kindergarten year. Students in all other grades are assessed in the second semester to determine placement for the following academic school year.
Students may be referred for gifted services by parents, teachers, principals, counselors, or by the students themselves.
Referrals must be submitted by Wednesday, December 6th.
If you prefer a hard copy of the referral, please contact Donna Bui at donna.bui@pisd.edu or by phone at 469-752-2040.
