Roosevelt Weekly Parent Info
Happy Wednesday--sending this a day early so that you can get all the information you need for the Roosevelt Book Fair and Open House.
~ Open House & Book Fair...is TOMORROW!!! Please come and enjoy some time at Roosevelt. The Scholastic Book Fair will run from 3:00-8:00, and the actual Open House is 5:30-7:00, with a variety of sessions being run by teachers starting at 6:00. Please refer to the bright colored brochure that came home last week OR pick another one up when you come that evening. If you were invited to Mrs. Rux and Mrs. Simpson's reading meeting scheduled at 5:00 before Open House it will be hosted in the CAFETERIA instead of the Media Center. We hope to see all of you tomorrow night!
~ T-Shirt Sales: Roosevelt gear will again be available for online purchasing. Different styles and sizers will be available at the Open House, but all of the ordering is done online. Here are the directions for ordering from UTE:
1. Go to our website: www.unitedteamelite.com
2. Click on TEAM STORES at the top menu. This will take you to the team store page login
3. Enter your team password under PERSONALIZED TEAM STORE in all CAPS: ROOSE19
All gear will be delivered to Roosevelt and sent home with students when it arrives, sometime before Thanksgiving. The store is open until November 7 so don't delay!
~ Rockin' Raccoon: Has your child talked about this?? Each week, each classroom teacher will choose a Rockin' Raccoon for the week, celebrating all the things this student does to make the classroom a special place. They will get to put a special magnet on their locker for the week, and they will be bringing home a certificate as well as a sheet that tells YOU why they were chosen as that week's Rockin' Raccoon!
~ Vision & Hearing: This is scheduled for Thursday, November 7. We are in need of 3 parent volunteers to help with this. Please contact Becky Lawrence (blawre1@isd77.k12.mn.us) if you can help with this. Thank you!
~ The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is a national program that promotes walking and biking to school. The SRTS focuses on teaching bicycle and pedestrian safety along with the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The initiative encourages children to walk and bike to school and also seeks to improve the air quality around schools, reducing traffic congestion near schools, increase physical activity of children, and increase community involvement.
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) original SRTS plan for Mankato was developed and adopted in 2013 and has served well to improve walking and biking to school. MAPS is currently going through a review of the 2013 SRTS plan to look at how neighborhoods have changed, see what new barriers may keep children from walking or biking to school and to add Prairie Winds Middle School to our plan.
