Mrs. Dettmer's Notes

We have officially completed one semester for the 2015-2016 school year. I want to thank you for sharing your children with me each day. I am blessed to work with an amazing set of students, staff and parents on a daily basis.

I had great feedback for the new newsletter format. We will continue to make changes, but I think this format is a lot more user friendly with pictures of exciting things happening at Rockcreek.

School Wide Learning Outcomes

Some ways that teachers help their students to become strategic, goal-directed learners are:

*Guide appropriate goal setting

* Support planning and strategy development

* Facilitate managing information and resources

* Enhance capacity for monitoring progress.

ELearning Days

I know you have many questions about Elearning days. We will continue to send information home before the first official Elearning day. We plan to have a practice day at school in January to help prepare students. If you have not completed your parent survey, please send this back to school after break.

Thank you to Mrs. Hill's class for our weekly updates on the construction. We are excited to see the walls begin to take shape. We will continue to add weekly updates about the construction. You can also look at the Rockcreek website for additional photos.

Student Spotlight - 6th Grade - Snowflake Science

The 6th graders made crystal snowflakes in science this week. They created a snowflake out of pipe cleaners and mixed Borax with boiling water. We left them overnight and found beautiful crystal snowflakes this morning. The students then researched how this happened, typed up a summary, and included a selfie with their crystal snowflakes on the summary.

Thank You!

4th grade would like to thank everyone for the Love Chapel Donations! We were able to donate 724 items!

Bulldog Basketball

We are about halfway through the season. It has been exciting to see the growth from all of our students. Our next game will be Wednedsay, January 6th against the Taylorsville Bears. This will be the last home game this season and 6th Grade Night.
