Principal News
Dear MacArthur Families,
Today, our Kindergartners took a field trip to Bellaboos. It was the first field trip in 18 months and I was so excited to see the students, parents and teachers get to attend. As you can see from the pictures it looks like they had a great time.
Teachers in grades K-5 are in the midst of administering their beginning of the year assessments. This year our students will be taking a new assessment called, NWEA. NWEA will be replacing the Star Reading/Math & mclass assessments. NWEA is a computer-adaptive test that measures a student’s achievement in the areas of English/Language Arts and Math. As a student takes the assessment, the assessment selects items based on the student’s responses. If the student answers the item correctly, the assessment increases the difficulty level of the next item. If the student answers incorrectly, the assessment lowers the difficulty level of the next item. By continually adjusting the difficulty of an item to what the student has shown she can or cannot do, the assessment is tailored to accurately measure each student’s level of achievement.
Have a Great Weekend.

NWEA: What Parents Need to Know
CPCSC will begin using NWEA this year. NWEA is a test for students in grades K-10 that measures academic progress. The data helps teachers set meaningful goals for student learning.
NWEA will begin in early September (and replaces previous tests like Star and mCLass). Check out our Parent Guide to NWEA for more information.
