We thank all parents and students for a fun and safe ending to the 2021 - 2022 school year!
ESOL night was a great success!
Thank you to our multilingual parents and students for joining us for ESOL night on May 26th. Having dinner and sharing is always fun. This night was so special as we had the best time together at the Wiz of Oz.
Next year, our 2022 - 2023 ESOL Plan consists of the goals as follows:
- Provide more concrete accommodations and support for the content teachers who serve our ESOL students.
- Increase the personal interactions with ESOL families. We want to have more events like the May 26th event.
- Implement strategies that exit at least one student per grade level per year, but continue the support on an as-needed basis.
- Continue personal text messages to ESOL families to keep them informed of school happenings.
We want your input for 2022 - 2023
Parents,
Please use the link below to give us some input on what we should keep in place and/or add for the 2022 - 2023 school year.
Thanks!

Take a gallery walk to SAMPLE our last two weeks of school and see how busy we were for just two weeks! Imagine WeAreSanders during the entire year!
The Wiz of Oz
Our engineering students created this magnificent Wiz of Oz. Our kids have so much talent and so much leadership.
The Wiz of Oz
The cast from the Wiz of Oz was amazing. If you missed the production, you missed the best show yet. The singing and dancing and acting was superb. Get their autographs now!
The Wiz of Oz
Students often choreograph their own dances. Look out Broadway. We are leading the way to New York!
Montessori Moving on Ceremony
Our young Montessori men are natural leaders already. They are filled with compassion and honor. Each one is a leader whose foundation is built on trust and respect. You cannot ask for more.
Montessori Moving on Ceremony
Students planned the entire event. This is leadership. There was confidence in movement, intentionality in organization, and a respect of the moment. Well done!
Montessori Moving on Ceremony
The young ladies of Montessori are more than ready for high school. They are ready for the world! Leaders make leaders. The ladies will pass on their skill, ensuring a stronger worldwide community.
Career Magnet Celebration of Learning
The Celebration of Learning was approved by staff and by me. Adults had no further input. Completely student-led! We just watched in amazement.
Career Magnet Celebration of Learning
Who needs an adult speaker when you have Jaelah? She did better than any speaker they could have invited. Her projection and relatability to the audience was somewhat unsettling. I forgot she was in middle school.
Career Magnet Celebration of Learning
Jauris, as a 6th grader, said he didn't think Leader in Me was a big thing. Now he is the epitome of leadership and is rocking the 7 Habits. He fears no public speaking and will definitely let his voice be heard.
8th Grade Promotion Parade
This was the best promotion parade of all times! It was well organized and well supported by our parents and students. Our traditional 8th graders gave us a hard time at the beginning of the year; however, at the end, this class proved to be the leaders we always knew they were meant to me. We are going to miss them so much!
8th Grade Promotion Parade
We couldn't even take down the decorations. The babies came back to help us close out the year. They helped with the younger students. They helped their teachers. They helped the administrators. They are natural servers. You know we will keep checking on them. They have such good hearts.
8th Grade Promotion Parade
Okay, they are definitely big show offs too. Wait until you see their reading scores!! This is a brilliant class. They have high energy, and we love every second we got to spend with them!
Cosplay
A queen one day and MEGAMIND the next. She's the master of all villainy on this day. Is there no limit to her talents?
Cosplay
It's Kermit the Frog! Kermit has been a hit since 1955. He's older than Sanders!
Cosplay
It's the Cosplay Gang! This was an awesome day seeing the kids who love stage makeup!
Coffee for Staff
Thank you to Mrs. Santillan's class who provided coffee and cookies for our staff. This was such a special treat for us.
Coffee for Staff
The leadership for this event was very structured. In fact, I was two minutes late. One of the student leaders told me that I need to respect time and come on time. This is Habit 3.
Coffee for Staff
Students organized and planned the event. They prepared. Our kids are rocking the 7 Habits!
Field Day
They had their game face ready!
Field Day
It was hot, but we played and hydrated all day!
Field Day
The kids loved dunking Mr. Charley in the water tank!
Congratulations to the newest members of the National Junior Honor Society (several members were on a field trip)
Farewell to another school year
It's a Tiger Tradition
We all come out to wave goodbye.
It's a Tiger Tradition
We shout farewells and well wishes and statements of love.
It's a Tiger Tradition
The buses hunk as they leave in the final bus parade home for regular school the year.
All parents, please use the below link to provide us with your opinion of your child's leadership ability and your opinion of our school. Thanks!
Summer Academic Supports
School is out, but learning is life long.
- If your child does not have his self-selected books for the summer, please stop by to grab them for summer reading.
- We will mail home some summer learning tips (from the above display and the below flyer) so parents can support their child's learning at home during the summer.
- The first day of summer school is June 13, 2022. Summer transportation has been arranged and those in need of credit recovery have been notified.
- The Montessori and Career Magnet Leadership programs are starting soon too. Montessori students can contact Nakesha Jones at nakesha.jones@richlandone.org. Career Magnet students can contact Ronda Steadman at ronda.steadman@richlandone.org. Transportation is provided.
Enjoy Summer Learning
2022 - 2023 Schedule Requests will be mailed home with the 6th and 7th grade report cards
2022 - 2023 Schedule Requests and Summer Academic Drop-in Q&A
If you completed your schedule requests for the 2022 - 2023 School Year, your request schedule will be mailed home with your report card. All related arts changes will be made by guidance, not administration. Parents will be emailed a schedule change form during the summer. It is our plan to offer early bird PE for Montessori students because our Montessori students have only one period of related arts. Rising 6th grade Montessori students will not take Intro to Spanish; however, qualifying Montessori 7th grade students, as well as all other qualifying 7th graders, will be able to take Spanish I in the 7th grade.
After SCReady assessment scores have been finalized, we will have an Academic Drop-in (Face to Face and Virtual) for parents to check in and ask scheduling and academic questions before making decisions about schedule changes.
Remember, teacher recommendations and test data will be used to determine which students will move on from Math ACC to Algebra I. If a child is in need of additional 7th or 8th grade math skills, the child will not be placed in Algebra I.
Start writing down your questions, and I will see you soon!
