Principal's Message
It has been a fabulous first quarter of school at Green Tree Elementary. Students and staff have had the opportunity to participate in many fun activities before, during and after school this year. We want to thank our wonderful PTO board members and parents for providing GTE with so much support as we implement the House System at GTE.
We also want to thank our families for their generous donations sent in to support the people that have been affected by Hurricane Dorian. Each House (Hawthorn, Catalpa, Magnolia, Sequoias, Tupelo, and Wisteria. brought in donations. Sequoia brought in the most - $385.49. As a school, we were able to raise over $1,725. The money has been donated to the American Red Cross to help support Hurricane Dorian victims.
We will continue to focus on excellence in academics and character at GTE while making school fun and exciting for students this year. Please remember Mrs. Bagin and I are always available to support you and your child. We want to continue to partner with you to ensure that your child is successful and feels supported. Contact us at any time with questions and input you may have for us.

Monthly Essentials Focus---October
Essential 3 - Respectfully Speak to Others & Never Ask for More
Always say thank you when given something. If you don’t say it within 3 seconds of receiving that item, I will take it back. There is no excuse for not showing appreciation.
Use your manners (please, thank you, excuse me)
At times throughout the year, I will give rewards for good behavior, academic performance, and other acts worthy of praise. If you ever ask for a reward, however, it will not be given. It is rude to ask if you are getting something for good behavior. You should be good and try your best because you are trying to better yourself, not because you are anticipating a reward. I usually give some sort of reward to everyone who scores 100 on unit tests. If you make 100 and ask if you are getting something, no one who made 100 will be given anything.
Take pride in your work; not everyone in the real world gets a reward for a job well done.
Green Tree Elementary would like to thank the Lake Saint Louis Police Department for all their support to our students, staff and parents.
PTO Spotlight
Hi, my name is Cynthia Madden and I have three kids at Green Tree. Ceci is in 6th, Clark is in 4th, and Cole is in 3rd. I have been involved in the PTO for years but this is my first year as President.
I love volunteering and giving back to our wonderful staff that give so much to our kids. I encourage you to get involved in the PTO! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
International Walk to School Day
Students from Green Tree Elementary and Heritage Primary joined schools around the world to celebrate the 23rd annual International Walk to School Day on October 2. That morning, nearly 100 Heritage Primary students, parents and staff walked safely from Fireman’s Park on West Pearce Boulevard to their school, escorted by officers from the Wentzville Police Department. Then on October 3, a group numbering more than 300 Green Tree students, staff, and families, walked to school from Boulevard Park, escorted by the Lake St. Louis Police Department.
This marks the 10th anniversary for Green Tree partnering with the Lake Saint Louis Police Department to celebrate International Walk to School Day. Lake St. Louis Community Resource and D.A.R.E. Officer Susan Ochs has helped to organize the walk every year and are happy that this event has become a tradition. “This is a great event to bring the community together, build school spirit, and encourage our students to be safe,” Officer Ochs said. “What started out as a Safe Routes to School project has developed into a 10-year partnership between the school, police and community.” Read the full article on the WSD Website.

Some Facts About Head Lice
Where children are present and playing, there is always the possibility of the presence of pediculus humanus capitis (head lice), which means there is a potential for there to be lice at school.
The WSD has aligned nurse practices with both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses and we ask that parents keep the following information in mind:
- Lice are not a disease.
- Lice do not reflect unsanitary homes or students.
- Lice are absolutely an inconvenience.
- By detecting lice early, both parents and nurses can get ahead in the process.
Listed below are links to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association of School Nurses. There is also a video on what to look for when assessing if your child has head lice.

Just a reminder regarding medication...
Medication - All medications, over-the-counter and prescription, must have a physician order form completed and signed by physician and parent. All medications must be delivered and picked up by an adult.
Please encourage your children to eat a healthy breakfast, bring a water bottle and snack to school and eat a good lunch.
Thank you!
