Let's Write a Big Idea for Science Literacy

In your Groups...

1. Discuss and determine: "what is a big idea" and "why is it important to know the big ideas in your lessons". There are 2 sheets in your folder that refer to big idea and examples from the Nearpod presentation.

2. Discuss and determine a big idea dealing with science literacy.

3. Write your big idea at the top of your chart paper.

4. During the Gallery walk (after all groups are done) make comments on other groups big idea.

  1. Review and discuss the 4 AP Biology Big Ideas (Green paper in the group folder). The Highlighted Big Idea is the one your group will focus on during this activity.
  2. Answer the following:

  • What misconceptions are prevalent with this big idea?
  • How is this big idea related to each level of organization? (Refer to cube)
  • Why is it important to have this big idea in front of students?
