A Season of Fun and Celebration
We have officially entered into a special season here at Wildwood Elementary. This past week, our school celebrated Red Ribbon Week by spending 5 days focusing on different aspects of healthy living. Our Tigers had fun playing with Cal Lutheran athletes, walking to school, visiting with local first responders, tasting red nutritious foods, wearing wacky wardrobes to school, and celebrating with our entire school community at Friday's Fall Fest!
Join me in thanking Kristina Martinez, our Red Ribbon Week coordinator, the Fall Fest committee, our many volunteers, and Tracy Yoder, our Fall Fest coordinator, for organizing and executing the BEST FEST IN TOWN! Towers were climbed, animals were pet, games were won, adults were dunked, food was consumed, baskets were sold, money was raised, community was strengthened, and memories were made that will last a lifetime.
If you plan on attending our All Grades Costume Parade on Tuesday morning (See details below), PLEASE make sure to PREREGISTER using the button below. Any adult who does not preregister will have to wait in line at the front office on Tuesday morning to check-in. Also, please remember that there will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 1 due to the Teacher Professional Learning Day.
Warmly,
Mr. Lynch
All Grades Costume Parade - Preregister to Avoid the Lines
Our Annual All Grades Costume Parade will begin at 8:20am on Tuesday, October 31st. Parents are invited to stay after drop-off and watch the parade. Please complete THIS PRE-REGISTRATION FORM to avoid long entrance lines at the event. All visitors will need to have a badge from the front office to attend the event. Everyone who preregisters will bypass the line, collect their preprinted badge in the MPR, and head straight out to the parade on the field.
As a reminder, student costumes must be school appropriate. Full face masks, blood or gore, and any type of weapon are not permitted. Any students who do not wish to participate in the parade will be provided an alternate activity.
We look forward to seeing you at our All Grades Costume Parade.

Odyssey of the Mind
We are excited to announce that Wildwood plans to participate in the 2024 Odyssey of the Mind competition. Odyssey of the Mind is not just about competing and problem-solving – it is about friendship and family. During OM competitions young people are encouraged to meet new friends and to watch and learn from the ideas of others. Odyssey of the Mind puts learning into action and has made learning fun for decades! HERE is a description of the program. Additional information can be found at https://www.socalodyssey.org/ . Please contact Wildwood parent, Teo Francu, at teodor.francu@gmail.com to express interest in joining a team.
STEAM Update
Hello Wildwood Families-
What a busy couple of weeks!
Last week our kindergarteners made some "flying" bats, and this week our 3-5th graders learned about batteries and how to wire 3V LED lights to make bat eyes! If you want to see how the bats were made here's a little video. Our TK class had fun making bat caves using various materials and "flying" bats.
Next week our 1-2nd graders will learn about batteries and LED lights and will come home with kits to complete their bats at home. They will also watch this video on how batteries are made (don't worry all the kids were told to not try this at home and only adults and professionals should do this).
We also started a "Pumpkin Jack" experiment to see how various things decompose—a carved pumpkin, an uncarved pumpkin, and a carved pumpkin with trash we found in our school compost bins.
I am so grateful for all the donations-they help tremendously! Please note the bats have small batteries so I talked with all the kids about not letting their little siblings, cousins, neighbors or pets have access to them.
