Visitors in the Building
Lunch is a very popular time for parents/grandparents to come and eat with their student(s). When joining your child for lunch, please know that this is a time for you and your child. All other students will need to remain at their designated tables.
All visitors are required to sign in and have a valid driver’s license. The office is able to sign in those visiting the cafeteria between 11:00 and 2:00. Parents can bring a sibling to lunch. However, siblings are not permitted to be at recess or in classrooms during the school day.
Are You Moving?
If you have moved or are moving soon, please notify us as soon as possible. We are available to assist you with transitioning to your child's new school. Whether it be another HCPSS school, private school, or to a school out of the HCPSS district, we are here to help. If you are transferring to another HCPSS school, our registrars will partner to make the transition as smooth as possible.
If you have an address change, bring your new residency documents to the front office and we will update your address in the system. If you have any questions, call Mrs. Drews, our Registrar at (410) 313-5506.
Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC)
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a consortium of states developing assessments to measure student achievement in English Language Arts (ELA)/ Literacy and Mathematics for grades 3-8 and high school. The primary purpose of PARCC is to provide high-quality assessments of students’ progression toward postsecondary readiness and success.
The PARCC tests are designed to match the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards and assess whether students are meeting grade-level expectations.
In contrast to other assessments, the PARCC is an extension to regular instruction, because students experience engaging, real-life texts and solve meaningful problems based on high-quality classroom work. In addition, built-in accessibility features help all students do their best and expand access for students with disabilities.

National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
The fourth Thursday in April of each year has been designated as National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day (this year it falls on April 25, 2019). The program was created by the Ms. Foundation for Women as an educational experience for daughters and sons. It provides an opportunity for daughters and sons to become more aware of their parents’ work day, and encourages them to think about their own futures. A student in our school system that is participating in this program will be considered to be on a field trip and will not be marked absent for the day.

Parents or guardians are to register students at the school serving the address where the child’s parent or guardian resides. Information on neighborhood schools can be found through School Locator on the school system web site or by calling the Public Information Office at 410-313-6682.

Science Fair
Your child is invited to participate in this year’s Science Fair on Monday, May 20th during the Lisbon Lions Lollapalooza from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The Lollapalooza is a popular event that showcases the remarkable things our extraordinary students have done this year at Lisbon Elementary School.
If your child is interested in doing a Science Investigation, Collection, or Invention at home, please visit the Lisbon Elementary School website (les.hcpss.org) to download documents with further information and instructions. Once your child has identified a project, also download, complete, and return the Intent to Participate form by Monday, May 13th. (If you do not have access to a computer, please request a hard copy of the specific forms you need from Mrs. Drews in the office.)
Students who elect to participate will have their name read on the morning announcements and their name printed and hung on a hallway wall display. Directions on where and when to bring in the projects will be shared in future Lisbon Lines.
We are excited to highlight the commitment shown and the hard work done by the LES students this year. Many thanks for all of your support at home and in the building this year.
* Students in any grade may conduct a Science Investigation to answer a question/problem. Students will use The Scientific Method to learn the systematic approach to solving a problem.
** Students in Kindergarten, First or Second grade may submit a collection. Students will collect and organize something of interest, answering questions related to observations made while exploring their world.
