Panthers Learn at Home! April 20-24

Teaching Schedule Reminders - No teaching on Mondays!

Don't forget that Monday is a no teaching day for teachers to plan, meet, and collaborate. Your child's teacher will also share an overview of what is to come for the week. Lessons, Google Meets, and work will continue Tuesday through Friday.

Monday is a great day for some self-directed or parent-directed extension activities, reinforcing math with some baking or cooking, or doing some research on a topic of interest. It can also be a day to finish up last week's work if you need more time.

Tech Agreement/ Distance Learning / Meet Etiquette

As we venture into this online meeting and learning arena, it is important to discuss expectations for appropriate behavior and etiquette for attending a virtual meeting and collaborating virtually. I have included a document for how you can help your child understand the expectations for this new learning environment. Please take a moment to read the two documents with your child or children. We want this to be as positive and productive as possible.
Big picture

Grading During Panthers Learn@Home

During this distance learning time, your child's grade will not be negatively impacted. Teachers will continue to give feedback, ask for corrections, etc., to help them improve or better understand a concept, but they will not be penalized. Please let your teacher know if you have any questions about what this looks like in their classroom.

PE - Keepin' It Moving!

We are all doing our best to keep at a distance while still staying active. Thank you to Ms. Rabe, one of our PE teachers at PW, who has created another option for you. She took some time today to create a fitness pathway in the church parking lot across the street from the school. The teachers will add this movie link to their virtual classrooms to show you how to do the moves properly. Enjoy an alternative course and remember to stay 6ft apart!

Class Lists for 2020-2021

Every year, much thought is put into the development of class lists and the assignment of students to teachers. Many factors are considered in this process including, but not limited to, academic and social skills, class size, special needs, and students that need to be separated from each other. In order to prepare for the Fall 20-21 school year, we need your help. The first step in creating class lists is to know how many students will be at Parker Whitney. Please complete the RUSD Intent to Return Form for each of your children who are currently enrolled in our school. Knowing you are planning to return to our school in the fall, allows us to make sure we have enough staff, desks, and supplies for all of our students when school starts.

End of Year Topics

Medication Pickup- We will be scheduling a day in early May for you to pick up your child's medications held in our Health Office. This will be a drive thru pick up with social distancing protocols in place. Stay tuned for more information.

Yearbooks - it has been submitted and is with the publisher. Once we have a delivery date, we will email out a plan for pickup that allows us to be in compliance with the directives and continue social distancing.

End of Year Item Pick-up - Many of you have asked about the plan for picking up VAPA projects, personal items in desks, memory books, work, lunch boxes, etc. Once we have more information about the new directive from the governor, we will be able to make a plan for this. At this point, we are looking at this happening the week of June 1st. I am sure much will change between now and then. We will email details at the end of May regarding this process.

Field Trip Monies - Soon you will be receiving a form to complete indicating if you would like a refund for field trips that were cancelled. You can indicate in the form who the money should be returned to or whether you would like to donate it to the scholarship fund for students that may not be able to afford a trip in the future. Once we have more information, we can create a plan for returning this money to you.
