Entrepreneurship Week in Partnership with Dundee Business Week
We have a couple of key events that we think might be of interest:
The first event is the Public Lecture from Josh Littlejohn, MBE and founder of Social Bite. A social enterprise aimed at helping the homeless of Scotland. Josh has a number of sandwich shops in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow with a 100% of the companies profits projects solving social problems.
The other event is the Venture final on 24 February from 10:00 to 20:00 which has numerous workshops in the morning followed by two cohorts of live pitching. This is a £25k pitching event and should have a lot of foot traffic both from the Universities and surrounding colleges and members of the general public businesses and investors. We have Mark Beaumont (Adventurer and Ambassador) and Cally Russell (Mallzee) speaking amongst others. Here is our website to have a look at the structure of the day for further reference: -

The Grierson DocLab - interested in a career in documentary/factual programme making?
The 2017 Grierson Trust DocLab
In partnership with Bertha DocHouse
- Do you love documentaries?
- Do you think you could bring something unique, creative and brilliant to the industry if only you were given the chance to prove yourself?
- Do you have stories you are burning to share, or think need to be told?
If the answer is yes to any of the above The 2017 Grierson Trust DocLab, in partnership with Bertha DocHouse, is for you. This is an opportunity to turn that thought into reality. The television industry needs new entrants from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences to make exciting, interesting, thought provoking and show stopping factual and documentary programmes.
We are now seeking applications from young people (UK residents only), who are passionate about television and documentaries, who have ideas on what they can contribute to the industry and who can offer fresh perspectives which are not being reflected on the screen.
In return, this prestigious scheme will give you the support to take that first step towards a successful career in factual programme making. The Trust will additionally provide ongoing bespoke support to help you progress your career choice within the sector.
You can read and watch how last year’s trainees have benefitted from the scheme on the Grierson Trust website.
This opportunity is for new entrants (aged 18-25), & will support a variety of roles behind the camera. You can find information about working in the TV industry on the Creative Skillset website & on Open 4 an online learning platform, hosted by Channel 4.
To apply for a place on this year’s Grierson DocLab complete the application below. Any questions please email training@griersontrust.org
