Week 3 Term 3 Panui

Wednesday - 2nd August 2023

Principal Message

Dear parents/caregivers,

Lots to celebrate this week in addition to the calm and clear days we have been enjoying. It’s great to see the grocery raffle off to a good start and I look forward to sharing our plans for how we will use the proceeds next week.

I extend a warm welcome to Courtney Turner who starts her first week at Witherlea opening a new room for our remaining year 1 students transitioning on from the Pukeko room.

Thank you to our amazing Friends of Witherlea for another successful hotdog lunch this week raising $405.20 for the school while providing a nice mid week treat for everyone!

It was great to see five teams from Witherlea participate in the netball tournament last Sunday to celebrate the end of season for the primary grades. Well done to all our players who have made so much progress over the season and huge thanks to the coaches for enabling this.

Yesterday our ears were delighted all morning with a combined choir practice for the upcoming Music Festival. Our choir of 112 students will combine with students from Whitney Street, Waikawa Bay, Linkwater and Mayfield schools. Keep an eye out for ticket sales in the next couple of weeks as this will be an amazing event!

This year we have implemented changes to our student reporting processes including the format for written reports. We hope these have provided greater clarity around your child's progress and achievement to date and information about how you can support them at home. We are always looking for ways to improve, so if you have any feedback please send me an email (principal@witherlea.school.nz) or pop along for an informal chat in the hall on Monday between 8.30am and 8.50am. Alternatively feel free to grab my ear at pick up/drop off time or book an appointment to see me via the office.

Best wishes to our students representing Witherlea school in the rugby tournament, Jump Jam competition and Interschool Cross Country in the coming week.

Ngā mihi nui,

Symon Beattie
