Weekly Update

Dear LSUU Families,

As summer continues, I hope your family is enjoying our beautiful state and this nice stretch of weather. This week, I've had an opportunity to connect with students, parents, community members, and our district leadership team. The survey responses and focus groups have been extremely helpful as I learn more about your hopes and dreams for our district. Our principals and central office administrators spent a day at each one of our schools assessing our current realities and reviewing our plans for a strong year ahead. We feel confident about the work and plans in place as we welcome our students back to school full-time.

I know many of you are wondering about health and safety guidelines for the upcoming school year. Questions such as: Will students be wearing masks? Will past traditions return? Are field trips and full school assemblies allowed? Will all students eat lunch in the cafeteria?

All of these questions are on our minds as well and after talking with superintendents around the state, every district leader is in the same situation. While we wait for more clarity, we prepare for all situations and plan to adjust as needed. The health and safety of our students, staff, and community will take precedence as decisions are being made and as much as I would like to provide more details right now, we are waiting for more guidance from the Agency of Education and Department of Health. As your superintendent, please know that I will keep you updated as far in advance as possible with any changes that may be coming your way.

If you have a question or there is anything weighing on your mind, please just give me a call or email. I may not have the answer but I will do my best to provide as much clarity as possible.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend,

Ryan Heraty

2021-2022 School Lunch

As you plan for the year ahead, please be reminded that school breakfast / lunch will be free for ALL Lamoille South students for the 2021-22 School Year.

Peoples Academy Principal Phil Grant recently shared these photos of art teacher Averill McDowell working with the Nordic team to create this beautiful mural. As we toured the buildings this week, student art is a constant throughout our hallways and classrooms in every school.

Leadership Week

Below: Our administrative team visited all seven schools this week, learning about the history and traditions of each. We spent our days reviewing research and best practice, planning our professional development days, and building our strong, collaborative team. We are very fortunate to have such an experienced and talented group of principals and administrators to support the work of our teachers and staff.
