A Message from Mr. Padgett
I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of summer break. With the first day of school set for August 23rd, there are several updates everyone needs to be aware of as students return to school with fully seated classes as normal.

Important Message from Dr. Mingus
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Over the last two school years Forsyth School District, as well as all public school districts across the state, were able to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students. We were able to provide this opportunity as a part of a grant offered by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The grants from the USDA have not been offered to districts for the upcoming school year, so beginning at the start of the 2022-2023 school year we will again charge students for meals at school.
With this change we want to remind all families of the benefits of filling out the free/reduced lunch application. Free/reduced lunch program applications will allow families who qualify to receive either free meals or meals at a reduced price. Please see the meal prices below.
Breakfast
Grades PK-12 Full Price $1.25
Grades PK-12 Reduced Price $0.30
Lunch
Grades PK-5 Full Price $2.35
Grades 6-8 Full Price $2.45
Grades 9-12 Full Price $2.55
Grades PK-12 Reduced Price $0.40
Completion of the free/reduced lunch applications will also provide students in grades 5-12 a reduced rate for the student laptop usage fee. Student laptops and the necessary accessories are provided by Forsyth R-III School to students at a cost of $30 per student. Students will receive a reduced laptop cost by completing a free/reduced lunch application. Students do not have to qualify for free/reduced lunch to receive the reduced laptop usage rate; the rate is accessible by submitting a completed application. Those students that complete a free/reduced lunch application will receive a rate of $10 per school year.
The completion of free/reduced lunch applications also assists the district in qualifying for opportunities for students such as programs, funding and additional support from state and federal revenue streams. The process for applying for free/reduced lunch is the same as in the past and the privacy of patron’s information collected on the form is strictly secured.
Free/reduced lunch application packets are available in every school office. If you have any questions please contact a building office or our food service department at the numbers below.
