Welcome to our Newest Assistant Principal!

"My name is Sarah Findlay, and I am thrilled to be joining Minor Elementary as the new Assistant Principal serving Kindergarten, 1st Grade and ESOL. In my thirteen years in Gwinnett County Public Schools, I've worked as an ESOL teacher, Instructional Coach and a classroom teacher for grades 2, 3, and 4 in both Baggett Elementary and Corley Elementary schools. During my first few days here, I learned that Minor Elementary is a community of staff members, students, and parents that truly care about one another and support each other in helping Minor students be successful.

I have a husband and two children ages 3 and 5. I love cheeseburgers, chocolate, and shopping for shoes. Most of all, I love coming to work every day to build relationships with the staff and students and make a positive impact on our school community. "

Congratulations and We Will Miss You, Dr. Harris!

Minor sends their warmest wishes and goodbyes to Dr. Catana Harris, who was recently promoted to a newly created position of Coordinator of English Learner Programs at our county office. We are proud that Gwinnett County has chosen one of our very own to represent our entire district! She will now be working with all schools to make our ESOL Department better and stronger for all students, but we will miss seeing her smiling face each day at Minor.

Fun Times with Read Across America Week

We had a blast celebrating Read Across America Week at Minor! We wore pajamas for "Dream Big Monday" and our wackiest clothes for "Wacky Wednesday". We expressed ourselves by wearing something that represented our individuality on "Be You Thursday" and dressed as leaders on "Readers are Leaders Friday". We watched videos of our administrators reading, listened to books that go with each theme, had to drop everything and read when we were "Grinched", and participated in a school-wide reading chain!

April Reading Challenge!

For April, we are going to do another reading chain competition! Help your grade level get an ice cream party by reading for the most minutes by making the longest reading chain!

All you have to do is read and fill out the Reading Challenge form that will be given to you in class. For every 30 minutes you read, you can fill out one strip with your name, teacher's name, and the title of the book you read. Get a parent to initial it and turn it in to the media center and we will add your link to the chain!

As an added incentive, for every reading strip you fill out and turn in, you will be entered into a drawing for a PRIZE!

Digital students, we want you to get in on the fun, too! For every 30 minutes you read, please get a parent to help you fill out this form: https://forms.gle/Yet2f5z7spzcgYQS8 **Please only fill out this form if you are a digital student!

Digital Learning Days for Second Semester

Remaining Digital Learning Day this semester:
