About Niels Bohr
Bohr was born in Copenhagen in 1885, being interested in Physics at a young age he studied the subject and earned a doctorate in Physics in 1911. Earning a Noble Prize of his own in 1922, in the same year Bohr married Margaret Norlund with which he had six sons with.
Atomic Model
Bohr created the Atomic Model for the hydrogen atom based on Rutherfords model, while also explaining the spectrum. Assuming that electrons moved through stationary orbits that were determined by their angular momentum, allowing the calculation of energy levels.
Discoveries of Bohr
Being the greatest contribution to modern physics, the Atomic Model shows the atom as a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by orbiting electrons.
Discoveries of Bohr continued
The amount of electrons in the outer orbit defines the properties of the element. While discovering this, Bohr also discovered that electrons travel separately around the nucleus.
