SCHOOL PICTURES
We know that school pictures create memories that last a lifetime. The AASD is working with Lifetouch to schedule school pictures in a way that is safe and efficient for our students and families. As soon as we have the picture dates and the process confirmed, we will share this information with you. Stay tuned!
IS YOUR CHILD WELL ENOUGH TO GO TO SCHOOL?
Dear AASD families,
With nearly three weeks of school completed, we want to sincerely thank you for your dedication to your child’s learning and health needs during this virtual learning phase. AASD continues to be diligent in the health and well being of our students, staff, and community. Screening is an important step in the prevention of the spread of COVID -19. CHECKING IN & DAILY ATTENDANCE
Present and Participating
The Appleton Area School District follows the state of Wisconsin requirements for school attendance and follows the AASD school calendar including all regular school breaks and in-service dates. In accordance with state law, all children between five (5) and eighteen (18) years of age must attend school full-time until the end of the term, quarter, or semester in which they become eighteen (18) years of age, unless they have a legal excuse, fall under one of the exceptions in the state statutes, or have graduated from high school.
The AASD will use a two-step approach to monitoring attendance: Present and Participation.
Present: (updated 8/31/20)
Note: The purpose of marking students is for tracking ATTENDANCE with respect to state reporting requirements.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Teacher Role (5K-6): Teacher will verify daily attendance through Infinite Campus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Student Role (7-12): Students will be expected to check-in daily for each period during the time for which the class period is scheduled. A student will be considered present for that period by checking in on Infinite Campus in the Student Portal
Teacher Role (7-12): Teacher will verify daily, individual class attendance through Infinite Campus. Individual student attendance will be verified when students “check in” to each of their classes through Infinite Campus.
Please make sure that your children are checking in daily to their livestream classes. We understand that sometimes schedules conflict or technology has a mind of its own, and we take these kinds of things into consideration.
NO SCHOOL DAYS
PARENT/TEACHER FALL CONFERENCES
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held virtually October 13, 14 & 15 for Elementary and October 12, 13, 14 & 15 for Middle School using the Google Meet format. To sign up for a conference with teachers, please click the link https://signup.com/go/vwRvXkF.
PARENTS OF ELELMENTARY STUDENTS: Conferences with homeroom teachers will be 15 minutes in length. You will also be given the opportunity to schedule a conference with your child’s Spanish, music, art, or physical education teacher. These will be 5-10 minutes in length. Due to limited time, K-6 classroom teachers can accommodate only their homeroom students. If you have a concern that you would like to discuss with your child’s math or reading teacher, please request a conference directly with that teacher outside the conference night dates.
PARENTS OF MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS: Conferences will be scheduled in 5-minute increments for which you may sign up for up to two spots per teacher (10 minutes total), if you choose. If you do not have specific concerns, choosing not to schedule a conference, or scheduling a 5-minute conference, will suffice. An extra day of conference spots will be offered to MS parents during fall conferences to accommodate the number of middle school students. Spring middle school conferences will be by parent or teacher request only and will be offered over two days.
Google Meet links and codes will be sent out closer to conferences.
If you have any issues with the online signup, please contact your child’s teacher or Kathy Diedrich at diedrichkathryn@aasd.k12.wi.us.. To sign up for fall parent- teacher conferences, please follow this link: https://signup.com/go/vwRvXkF.
