Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
Congratulations! We did it! We worked our way to A because you made a choice to do what was right for children. It was quite interesting to open the paper and read that Pass Christian was back on top. I fully expected that others would take the spotlight this year as we had a district that was making its first top three appearance. We pondered why...Why us? Why are we headline news when test results are released? I offer this response. Because in our state, we have earned the attention. We were number one for five years in a row; I am not sure I know of another with that kind of legacy. Legacies of consistent excellence, "Yes!" Number one five years...I cannot think of anyone other than right here. So, when you are a measuring stick for quality education, you are noticed good, bad, or indifferent. The pressure continues for us. We are a living example of what can happen when a community decides to educate to and beyond children's potential.
Where do we go next? I believe we must take the challenge offered in the SunHerald; let's go to the tippy top. This year, we must continue to do those things that will strengthen our students as learners. Our Student Leadership Council continues to say they (students) can do more than we are asking them to do. We will get what we expect and require. While the state argues over what the cut scores should be and not be, the Pirates will be doing what is best for our children to meet our mission. Lean in!
With that, I submit the Log. #stayhungry #excellencemarksthespot #committedtoexcellence
