The Shake Smore

The main idea of this smore is to give someone an idea of the Shakespeare story before reading the twelfth night or watching the movie she's the man. They could also use this work to get a visual image of the story in there mind.

Elements of a Shakespeare story

1. Happy endings - In the movie She's The Man it ends with viola and Duke getting together and Duke accepting her forgiveness for being some one she wasn't.

- Unis was someone who could never really find love... she even fell for what she thought was Sebastian but it was just viola. At the end of the story she finally found love and it brought a since of joy to the reader.

2. Complex Plot- In shes the man the plot twists when Violas brother Sebastian shows up early and messes up violas relationship with Duke.

-In twelfth night the plot twist is when Viola thinks Sebastian is dead but he shows up at the end.

Summary: The two complex's plots are very similar due to strong bonds being renewed at the end of the stories.

The Comedy Ladder

Farce- Both the movie and the play have an example of mistaken identity when viola goes undercover and takes on the role of her brother.

-Viola acting as Sebastian tells Malvolio " I left no ring with her. What means this lady?"

Comedy in Fair Manners- In she's the man Sebastian (Viola) has to earn the respect of Duke and his buds through showing her soccer skills and his (her) ability to pick up chicks. In the movie Duke wants Sebastian to help him get with Olivia but things don't exactly go as planned.
