School News

Thursday is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed 2 hours early, so 1:35 for carpool and parent pick-up, 1:45 for BAS, and buses (when they are called).

There is no school on Monday, January 18th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The school-wide spelling bee is scheduled for Thursday, January 21 at 2PM. Our classroom spelling bee winner is Cooper Knight and Milind Murthy is the runner-up. Congratulations!

The Snowball Dance is scheduled for Friday, January 22.

We are getting a salad bar for the cafeteria this spring. We earned it by having more kids eating breakfast and lunch from the school cafeteria. Please encourage your children to eat school breakfast and lunch.

Subject by Subject

In language arts we are working on Benchmark Literacy (the reading program RPS adopted). I am working with students in small groups, while the other groups rotate to different language based activities. We will have new spelling words this week.

I math we are finishing up Topic 8, long division, and we have a test on Tuesday. We have been working in homeroom time on understanding fractions, which is our next topic.

In science, we will have a test on SOL 4.7 on Thursday. Then we will work on SOL 4.8, and the students already have the study guide.

In social studies we will not have a quiz until next week. The students have the study guide, but we have not gone over it yet.

The following students have at least 10 AR points: Jackson, Travis, Davis, Graham, Ruby, Caleb, Kimoni, Alec, Sarah, and Milind. Congratulations! I will publish the names of the students who earn 11 points next week.
