Washington School: March Issue 2019
Letter from Mrs. Daly
Dear Washington Families,
I hope everyone had a most enjoyable winter break! I personally relished the slower pace and extra time I was able to spend with family and friends because the months ahead seem to become increasingly faster and busier.
Besides helping our students jump back into learning mode this month, we also have been engaged in the powerful and proactive best practice of – after a long break from routines - reviewing the schoolwide behavior expectations outlined in our District 64 Student Handbook. If you would like to discuss or reinforce these guidelines at home, feel free to access our handbook online. It would also be helpful if you would remind them and talk about what ROARing behavior looks like and sounds like.
As we move into February, I want to thank everyone for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school as we collectively strive to provide optimal opportunities for learning each and every day. In addition, I want to also welcome our new families to Washington and trust that you will find yourselves a part of an outstanding and supportive learning community.
Thank you to our families for your diligence in having your students at school on-time and well-prepared for learning each day. In addition, please continue to be mindful that our students’ academic day continues until dismissal each afternoon and it is very important that students are not dismissed early unless an unavoidable appointment or emergency is involved as valuable instruction from the teacher can be missed in addition to required assignments.
As always, thank you for supporting the wonderful teaching and learning taking place here at Washington!
Warmly,
Mrs. Daly

Pete's Diary Assembly
One of the highlights of the month was when Pete (from petesdiary.com) and his mother came to present to our students. His message of resiliency, grit, kindness, and humor was inspirational and empowering. His theme of “We are all Wonders” resounded with the students and staff alike and has inspired us all to choose kindness every day and to make February, “Random Acts of KIndness” Month.
