A Message from our Principal- Donna Burke
We had an AWESOME time at the “GLOW in the DARK” dance on Friday. Thank you to the SGA students, SGA sponsors, teacher volunteers, and parents volunteers. We could not have had a successful dance without all of the support. Also, thank you for your patience in the carpool lines as we used two sides of the school to get all the cars in and out.
We are beginning the 4th quarter of the school year, so just like in a football game, we have to be focused and work hard. There is always a lot going on during the last 3 months of middle school. We have our regular academic classes, extracurricular activities, community activities, and of course family activities. In addition to all of this, we have two types of standardized testing in the 4th quarter. We will have the ACAP testing in April and iReady testing in May. Although we all know that scores on a test do not define our students, we do want them to be prepared to take these tests. One thing that prepares our students is to be sure they complete their IReady pathways in Math and Reading. Remind your students to complete these lessons each week.
Reminders from the Principal
Our 6th graders traded in their Chromebooks this week and the new Chromebooks have a productive cover on them that should not be removed for any reason. Removing the cover will void the insurance plan.
During morning carpool, at least 7 cars can unload at a time under the awning. Traffic gets backed up if cars unload one at a time!
The carpool door locks at 8:28 because it takes more than 2 minutes to get to class from that door. If the door is locked then the student must come in the front door and sign in.
During afternoon carpool-- for the safety of yourself and others-- please stay in the lane you are directed toward and please follow all directions given by staff members. Your child will follow your car and will get in once our staff has stopped all traffic and they can safely cross the 3 lanes we have set up for carpool pickup.
Walkers are expected to cross the streets where we provide Crossing Guards. Students cannot cross any other streets without a parent/guardian present.
As it gets warmer, students need to make sure they are in dress code.

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS
2023-2024 online registration is open for all returning students. E-mails have been sent to parents with their child's information and snapcode. Please complete your online registration as soon as possible. We have approximately 525 students not enrolled for 23-24. If you did not receive your email or if your child will not be returning for 23-24, please email Mrs. Stone at cstone@hoover.k12.al.us. If your lease has expired (or will expire) during the current school year, please ensure that you have provided a copy of your new lease and a current utility bill to Bumpus. Conversely, if you have moved during the current school year, please provide us with a copy of your new lease or deed and a current utility bill.
Any student account without up-to-date residency will be placed “on hold” and no registration email will be sent out. Residency documents may be dropped off at the school or emailed to our registrar at cstone@hoover.k12.al.us
