"EMPOWER ME" PRESENTATION
On May 16, your child will have the opportunity to attend a presentation called "Empower Me!" on personal safety awareness. For more information, please read this letter.
2022-2023 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Information for registering your 2022-23 kindergarteners was mailed out to families the week of January 3rd. If you did not receive a letter, please reach out to the Pinecrest office at 651-480-7280 or visit our website.
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR
Each family will receive a communication in August containing important information regarding the beginning of the school year. Kindergarten families will receive a separate email with orientation information for Tuesday, September 6th.
The first day of school in the fall for students in grades 1-4 will be Tuesday, September 6th and Wednesday, September 7th for kindergarten students.
Suggested classroom supply lists for the fall will be available on our school websites and in local stores.
WARM WEATHER AND FLIP FLOPS
As the weather continues to be conducive to being outside, our class may spend prolonged periods (20 min+) outside learning. Please have your child bring any needed sun exposure items such as hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. that you see as appropriate for your child. If your child is going to bring sunscreen, please show them how to apply it themselves, and remind them not to share their sunscreen with other students. A base layer of sunscreen can also be applied at home before sending your child to school.
Although flip-flops are fun and colorful, they should not be worn at school since they do not provide any stability or protection from injuries. Our nurse sees children with cuts, scratches, broken toenails, twisted ankles, and falls from running in flip-flops. Please be sure that your child wears appropriate shoes each day to school.
MESSAGE FROM PTA
We can always use new members, please consider joining. Your membership dues help to keep the PTA going, so that we can continue to host events like BINGO, Teacher Luncheons, Movie Nights, Back to School Ice Cream Social, and much more...
MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
Please continue to monitor your child every morning for symptoms of COVID-19 that could indicate that they are not well. If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms or they have been exposed to a person with COVID-19, please keep them home and call the attendance line. Symptoms of COVID-19*
● Fever or chills (T = 100.4 or higher)
● Cough
● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
● Fatigue
● Muscle or body aches
● Headache
● New loss of taste or smell
● Sore throat
● Congestion or runny nose

*This list does not include all possible symptoms (see Symptoms of Coronavirus for more information).
We learn more about COVID-19 every day, and as more information becomes available, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) will continue to update and share information with us. As our knowledge and understanding of COVID-19 evolves, this guidance may change.
During the school day if your child develops illness symptoms we, the school, will notify you and help you and your family take needed actions. Students who develop illness symptoms during the school day will be sent home.
School Lunch Updates
FREE Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to all students for the 2021-22 school year.

More information about lunch accounts can be found here.
ATTENDANCE
Throughout the year, there may be times that your child may be sick, need to go to medical appointments, etc. If your child is absent, please call the attendance line by 7:50 am at 651-480-7281.
Being on time to school is very important. If you are late to school, please check your student in at the main office.
When there is a change to your child’s normal dismissal plan, please contact the main office at 651-480-7280 by 1:35 pm.
If you are picking up your student early for an appointment, bring your ID. If someone other than the parent/guardian is picking up, office must be notified in advance and their ID also is required.
TREATS AT SCHOOL
The district has adopted a wellness policy. We are still celebrating student birthdays; we are just not doing so with birthday treats. We ask that students not bring any treats in honor of their birthday.
BRING YOUR ID
We updated our student sign in/out system and will need to re-scan all driver's licenses when students are picked up early.
Please bring your driver's license with you when you are checking out your student.
Change of Address or Daycare
If during the school year your address or daycare changes and this requires a change in transportation, please contact the school, not the bus company. If you give us the information we will work with the bus company to make the changes. The only changes that can be made are those that are permanent or for an extended length of time. It is very difficult for the bus company to make brief or sudden changes in the routes. If you need to update your address, please complete this form to turn into the office Thank you for your help in this matter.
