iPad Update
The planning to get our Kindergarten students connected to their teachers with an iPad has been ongoing. One way that teachers are able to connect with their students is through an app called Zoom. Zoom is an audio/video conferencing platform that allows teachers and students to talk to and see one another in real time. Now, we need your assistance to get this installed on your child's district-issued iPad.
To install this app, the iPad must be connected to the Grand Forks Public School's network.
You have 2 options to make this update happen:
1. Families can drive into you nearest school's parking lot. Once you pull in, you will need to turn on the iPad, go into Settings and connect to our district's Wifi. (Most iPads will automatically connect to the network GFPS2. If the device doesn't connect to GFPS2 automatically, connect to the network BYOD and use Students as the password.) After successfully connecting to our Wifi, Zoom will automatically download.
2. Families may pull into the Lake Agassiz parking lot between 12pm and 4pm on Tuesday, March 31, and call the school office (701-746-2275). A school employee will retrieve the iPad, sanitize it, bring it into the school, update it, and then bring it back to you.
If you do choose to pull into the parking lot and complete the download without needing assistance, please call our school office at 701-746-2310 and let us know you have successfully downloaded Zoom. We want to ensure that each kindergarten student will be able to "Zoom" with their teacher and classmates next week.
We apologize for this inconvenience. As we head into our first week of distance learning, there will be some bumps in the road. We are all experiencing quite a learning curve and appreciate our supportive West families more than you know!!
Sincerely,
