We are blessed!
- I am thankful to have a team of strong experienced professionals supporting me on our administrative team.
- A dedicated and family focused team supporting our front office and all of us!
- A campus leadership team who has taken on great responsibility this year directly helping to make key decisions for our campus.
- Our intervention and SPED teams who not only support their very diverse group of students they serve, but also all of us as well.
- A specials team who has come together to support each other as they try new and different things for our students this year!
- A strong team of paraprofessionals who support everyone in all things everyday!
- A talented group of teachers who work in teams to support, grow and challenge each other and our students on a daily basis, regardless of barriers!
I don't think anyone can argue that each of you contributes to our efforts to make Dessau ES a Campus of Excellence! Thank you for all that you do to keep our Energy Bus moving in a positive direction! I am so happy to be here with you!
And what a week we had... our awesome parents and HEB on Parmer and IH 35 donating all those scrumptious pies for our families. Thanks Sunshine for keeping our spirits warm with a little hot cider, Yum! Pancakes by State Farm! And all of the parents who came out to have some healthy fun in the gym with Moving with Moms! That was really fun!
Great things are happening all around. I hope that you too took a moment to notice other ways that you were personally blessed.
Wishing us all a great week back to school,
Carolyn
Things to know...
- Our first PTO meeting is Wednesday, Nov 4, from 5:30 - 6:30. We will discuss plans for an December family event and more! Please make sure that someone from your grade level is in attendance :) Let's show our support!!
- Homework Lab: We are disappointed with or homework lab participation. Please encourage students to come do their homework or to come work on assignments that are past due! remember that you can send a folder with late or missing work for a student. Knowing that the end of the grading period is quickly approaching, SEND STUDENTS :)
- Computer lab will be closing :( As our enrollment grows, we are running out of room. TO accommodate a new 1st grade teacher, we will be collapsing the PLC room into the computer lab. We will start to slowly make it happen this week, but it will take us a while to find temporary homes for the computers. If you have space in your room to house another computer, please let our ICs know.
- BEWARE with opening suspicious emails! In an effort to keep us all vigilant with our technology practices, our IT department will be monitoring our responses to certain "trick" emails. If you happen to open something you shouldn't, I will be notified and you will need to attend a mandatory training for safe practices on technology. Be careful!
- PBIS: Make sure you have built in your PBIS review into your lesson plans. It is a necessary requirement to take time this week to review and remind students about expectations and procedures. You won't regret spending the time doing it!
Congratulations to Ms. Anderson!
Remember to use your fabulous parking spot up front!!
12 Days of Christmas...NO...15 Days of Festive Fun!
With the very busy holiday season upon us, we wanted to make sure we made time for some fun! Open the attachment to see the calendar of dress up days and activities that will happen over the next 15 days! Keeping our energy bus positive will be easier if we have fun together! Feel free to share the dress up days and activity days with the students so they can participate too!
Powerwalks
Training on Fun 5 starts this week! If you haven't read the book, please do so this week!
As we all try to make the Fundamental practices second nature to us, please use us as a cue when we walk in. It is okay to move into the power zone when we walk in (If you are not already there). It is okay to see us and remember to stop the students to turn and talk in response to a high level questions you ask. If we come in during transition, remember to have students read the lesson frames and review CHAMPs expectations for the next part of the day.
If everyone gets comfortable with letting us be your cue, you will all be doing it naturally before you know it. Let us help you!
Powerwalks will start on Monday. We will be looking for evidence of higher level practices, not low level worksheets! It's time to get away from so many worksheets and get creative with hands-on and collaborative station ideas! Our IC's are ready and waiting to help you ramp it up!
