4-H Enrollment Instructions
WEIGH-IN 2019
WEIGH IN - 2019 Livestock Weigh-in WILL BE optional. A 4-H family may decide if they want to weigh in their market lamb and market goat project animals. IF you DO NOT weigh you are NOT eligible for production classes/awards AND NOT eligible for “rate of gain” contest or awards.
Sheep/Goat Weigh-in (LINCOLN COUNTY)
June 1 from 9:00 to 11:00 am
Affidavits will still need to be filled out and turned into the office even if YOU'RE NOT Weighing -In.

2019 UNL Tractor Saftey
June 13 & 14, 2019

Registration begins at 7:45 am, and class
begins promptly at 8:00 am
Any youth 14 or 15 years of age who works on a farm or ranch other than his own is required to be certified through a tractor safety course. Extension Educators and field specialists will teach the 2 - day courses. Cost for the course is $60, which includes all materials, lunch and breaks, for both days. Registration is requested a week prior to class. For details or to

Join us for the NCTA Livestock Judging Camp, May 22nd and Youth Animal Science Field Day, May 23rd. These events are open to all youth ages 8-18 years old.
On Wednesday, May 22nd The NCTA Livestock Judging Team would like to invite youth to the Standard of Excellence Livestock Judging Camp. During this overnight experience judgers will learn evaluation techniques, terms, note taking skills, proper handling of contest animals, and gain the confidence it takes to deliver a set of reasons. All in a fun, friendly, and safe environment. Judgers will have the option to stay overnight, in our NCTA residence halls, to join in the Youth Animal Science Field Day on Thursday, May 23rd. On Thursday, May 23rd the Youth Animal Science Field Day (YASFD) team would like to invite youth to YASFD. On this day there will be six different sessions taught by Nebraska Extension Educators and NCTA faculty and staff. These sessions will include Animal Science Careers, Horse Hippology, Dog Care/Stock Dogs, Beef Reproduction, Animal Management, Poultry Judging and more.” “9:30 am – 3:30 pm in Curtis, NE on the NCTA Campus
For your convenience, those participating both days have the option to register for an overnight stay in the resident halls on NCTA’s campus.

The Animal Science Department of UNL is excited to introduce our new, dog camp, Fur Your Information!
Through three sessions (June 3, 10, & 17), this camp will offer students the opportunity to learn and practice showmanship, rally obedience, and agility with their household dog.
No previous training knowledge or experience? No problem! So long as your dog knows basic obedience and good on-leash control, students between the ages 8 and 18 are encouraged to enroll.
From practicing basic components of training like animal behavior, positive reinforcement, and motivation to learning more about the science behind dog care, this camp has it all!

HORSE BODY CONDITIONING SCORE:
All 4-H members should be evaluating their horse for the appropriate Body Conditioning Score that needs to be placed on ALL Horse ID Sheets in 2019. This is a simple learning lesson that all youth 4-H members need to be aware of. To help with this process the following resources are available:

Moisture Readers Available for checkout
Moisture and Rebuilding ... Moisture meters are available at the Cass County Extension Office for homeowners to borrow to monitor structures for moisture levels prior to rebuilding.
The moisture level of structures cannot be determined by appearance or time spent drying. A calibrated moisture meter is recommended to measure the moisture content of flooded materials. To check out a meter, visit the Extension Office at 348 West State Farm RD . Call 308-532-2683 with questions.
