COUNSELORS CORNER
Attention Class of 2022!!! Junior year is one of the most important and pivotal years in high school and you have a lot to work on!
- Make an appointment with your counselor to make sure you are on track to graduate. If you are behind, do your best to get caught up...nothing makes Senior year less exciting than having to spend your days in online recovery making up credits and worrying about the ability to graduate.
- It's time to start thinking about Post-Secondary options!
- Do you have an idea of what you want to do after high school? University? Community College for an Associate's Degree or Certificate? How about a Vocational or Trade School?
- Have you started looking at colleges and programs? What about where you'd like to live while going to school?
- College credits are now possible through AP courses, Dual Enrollment courses (with certain classes), AND Early College through CAC. Take advantage of these opportunities as much as you can, because each college credit earned in high school is one less you have to worry about in college.
- Scholarships are also an important part of Junior year. Start looking at private scholarships that can help you pay for college. Not going to a University? That's OK! Mike Rowe does a scholarship program for Vocational schools and there are plenty of other options...never sell yourself short of a goal because of small obstacles!
- Have you taken the PSAT? This test is a great way to acclimate yourself with the SAT. The PSAT will be offered in school on October 14.
- Are you ready for the ACT or SAT? Remember you can take these tests more than once AND there are multiple sites where you can practice and get help. Take a look at College Board, March2Success, and the Khan Academy!
- Don't forget to have fun and make those memories that you will enjoy looking back on.
Upcoming Counseling Events:
- September 28-October 5: Fall Break...enjoy some down time!
- October 14: PSAT/SAT on campus
- October 12-16: Civics testing (required for graduation)
- October 21-22: ASVAB testing for Seniors (by alpha)
