ROCK CREEK REPORTER
August 2022
Message from the Principal
Hello Rock Creek Families,
We did it! We have finished our FIRST WEEK of the 2022-2023 school year. It has been such a positive experience. Kids fill our hallways and classrooms with their hopes and dreams, smiles and laughter, and so much love and joy. It’s been the best start and we’re ending the week feeling happy.
We will be hosting our Back to School Night for parents of students in Grades 1-5 next Thursday, September 1st. We invite you to join us to learn about what your child’s experience will be in their grade this year! As a reminder, this event is for PARENTS ONLY. Our schedule for the evening is as follows:
1st/2nd: 6:30-7:00pm
3rd/4th: 7:00-7:30pm
5th: 7:30-8:00pm
Here are some other things we want you to know:
We appreciate your grace and patience as we get everyone in and out of our car pick-up lane at arrival and dismissal. If we synergize and consider our collective needs, we can be more efficient than if we only think about ourselves. I love that we are modeling for our kids what this looks like each day! Thank you!
NO PARKING on the WEST SIDE OF ABILENE RD. from 7-9 and 2-4 on school days.
Please do not cross Abilene Rd at 36th St. because the traffic there is very busy and there is no crossing guard. Students and families should walk to the Abilene Rd and 38th St. crossing where there IS a crossing guard.
Important Dates to Keep Your Eye On:
September 5 No School, Labor Day
September 8 RC Restaurant Night at Ben’s Burgers
September 13 PTO Meeting at Rock Creek 6:00 - 6:30
September 14 - 22 Fun Run Fundraiser

Sincerely,
Suvada Kuburas

A Note From Mr. Hudecek, PE
Welcome back to PE at Rock Creek! We will focus on proper throwing skills, locomotor movements and being kind to start the school year.
To feel great and maintain a healthy weight, school-age children need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Preschool-age children should be active throughout each day. Physical activity is anything that gets your heart pumping or makes you stronger.
