Fifth Grade Newsletter
Special Edition
The Background
For the past several years, Smith has celebrated its fifth graders with a special
video that is shown at the end of the year. It includes all 5th graders and
highlights their years at Smith. Students also receive a link so they will
have the video as a keepsake.
We would like to thank Smith parent and teacher, Kim Ayers, for taking
on this huge photo/video project. We really appreciate you, Kim!
Parents and guardians, your help is critical to the success of this project and
making sure we include all students. Please see Kim's note below on
what type of pictures she needs from you and how to get them to her.
Thank you,
The 5th grade teachers
The Request
Dear parents,
It’s time to start putting together the EOY video for the entire 5th grade! I am looking forward to it. It will include the journey of our 5th graders from kinder through 5th. There are many students who joined Smith after kindergarten, and they will, of course, be included!
I can't do this alone and I definitely need everyone's help by submitting pictures to me. The minimum that I need from each of you for your own child is:
- A kindergarten picture
- A 5th grade picture
If your child wasn’t part of Smith in kinder lor the early years, it's okay! Please still send in AT LEAST one kindergarten and one 5th grade picture. These two pictures can be first day of school type pictures, pictures with their teacher etc. I prefer that they not be LifeTouch school pictures.
When you send your pictures to me, please let me know your child's preferred name for the video. If you are including extra pictures, as mentioned below, please let me know the year/grade if possible.
I know many of you take a lot of pictures at parties, field day etc, so I am calling on you to help with some additional photos from throughout years that include:
- field trips
- class parties
- teachers
- stampede
- field day
- multicultural night
- Pine Cove
- class or group photos from each year at Smith
Please submit only photos that were taken at school or school related events (like DI, Scout dens/troops or field trip). Photos with multiple 5th graders are preferred.
Please limit to 20 pictures per student (2 individuals and 18 group/class photos) Submit all pictures by Sunday, March 24th.
Thank you!
Kim Ayers
