Terra Linda Tiger Tale
May 7, 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
There is a lot of great learning happening right now at Terra Linda! Teachers know their students well and are able to nudge them forward in many different skill areas. Hopefully students are also excited about what they are learning! In our family, I try to check in each day to find out at least one new thing my children learned at school that day. It's fun to hear their different answers!
Surveys for All Families
We are starting to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. To help us, we hope every family fills out the following 4-question survey: https://forms.gle/uUCPaJ7tSzCpWD426 The form will be open through the last day of school in June.
Safe Routes to School is asking all families to fill out this survey, too http://www.saferoutesdata.org/surveyformparent.cfm?key=5579096 Responses are due by Monday, May 31. (The Safe Routes to School Website is now working.)
Optional Survey
We are also gathering parent/guardian input to assist with creating balanced classes for the 2021-22 school year. Staff carefully consider a number of factors to create balanced classroom communities, including gender, academic levels, second language needs, special education needs, talented and gifted needs, and behavior needs. Your input is also important. If you would like to provide us with this input, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/ZHNzBdeKp3nAhB39A Input is due by Friday, May 21
Below are a few announcements. Thank you for staying connected to Terra Linda!
With appreciation,
Christy

Safe Routes to School Survey
Dear Terra Linda Parents and Guardians,
It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient, and fun.
Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads. The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.
Thank you,
Leah Biado-Luis

A Message from the Terra Linda PTC (Repeat)
The Terra Linda PTC is in need of three board members for the next school year. They are recruiting for volunteers now, so there will be time to train the new board members. The open positions are Secretary, Treasurer and Communications Coordinator. All positions require about 2-3 hours of work per month and have a one-year commitment.
Further details on the position duties can be found in our Bylaws on the Terra Linda PTC web page. Please reach out to current PTC President Rick Collett at president@terralindaptc.org if you have any interest or questions. Thank you.
Camp Achieve Summer 2021 (Repeat)
Camp Achieve will be at Terra Linda this summer for in-person summer school! Mark your calendars for July 6-July 29, all days except Fridays.
Students will have in-person school, likely from around 8:30-2:30 at Terra Linda. The focus will be on continued learning, both with core subjects and enrichment in areas such as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), Music, and PE. There will be no cost to families, and transportation will be provided for those eligible for transportation during the school year. Snack and lunch will also be provided at no cost.
Registration information will be available soon!
Calendar Reminders (Repeat)
Every Wednesday is a School Day: We've noticed a lot of absences on Wednesdays. Please know that all in-person hybrid and full CDL students have a meeting with their classroom teacher at 8:30am (schedules might be different for students in the SRC). Please be sure your students are signing in for school every Wednesday (a few exceptions listed below). During this morning meeting, teachers review expectations for the remainder of the day. Students should then complete their assignments and activities independently after their morning meeting ends. All students also have a Wellness lesson on Wednesdays. The lesson is either posted on Seesaw and should be completed independently, or the lesson is delivered live on Zoom by Mrs. Edmunds and Mr. Leijon. Details are on the Wellness class in Seesaw.
Monday, May 31: Schools are closed in observance of Memorial Day
Wednesday, June 2: Instructional Wednesday: In-Person Hybrid students will have school at Terra Linda from 9:00-11:15am and Full CDL students will have school on Zoom from 12:15-2:30pm. The asynchronous half of the day will run like a typical Tuesday.
Grab & Go, Outdoor Library, and Meal Pick-Up on June 2 will be 11:45am to 12:30pm so we don't mix these events with dismissal June 2 is regular school day.
Friday, June 18: Last day of school for the 20-21 school year
