The type of government is rebublic.The name of the leader in the Executive Branch is President Mahinda Percy RAJAPAKSA.The name of the leader in the Legislative Branch is Parliament.The Judicial Branch includes all of the courts in the country.The date when the constutution was adopted is 16 August 1978.The age when citizens can vote is 18 years of age.


The per capita GDP is $6,100.Some agricultural products are rice, sugarcane, grains, pulses, oilseed, spices, vegetables, fruit, tea, rubber, coconuts; milk, eggs, hides, and beef.The industries include processing of rubber, tea, coconuts, tobacco and other agricultural commodities; telecommunications, insurance, banking; tourism, shipping; clothing, textiles; cement, petroleum refining, information technology services, construction.Their import partners and percents are India 25.6%, China 15.9%, Singapore 7.1%, Iran 6.2%, Japan 5%.This countries export partners and percents are US 19.8%, UK 9.2%, India 6.5%, Italy 5%, Germany 5%, Belgium 4.4%.The percent of labor forces are agriculture: 31.8% industry: 25.8%  services: 42.4%.The name their currency is ruppe. 


The nationality is Sri Lankan.The ethnic groups are Sinhalese 73.8%, Sri Lankan Moors 7.2%, Indian Tamil 4.6%, Sri Lankan Tamil 3.9%, other 0.5%, unspecified 10%.The languages spoken there are Sinhala (official language) 74%, Tamil (national language) 18%, other 8%.The religions there are Buddhist (official) , Muslim, Hindu ,and Christian


The landforms in Sri Lanka are mostly low, flat to rolling plain with mountains in south-central interior.Some natural resources they have are limestone, graphite, mineral sands, gems, phosphates, clay, and hydropower.A few of the natural disasters are occasional cyclones and tornadoes.The climate is mostly tropical monsoon, northeast monsoon (December to March) and  southwest monsoon (June to October)
