School Site Council (SSC)
The School Site Council monitors Fammatre’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). Voting council members are comprised of 50% staff and 50% parents/community members. Members are selected or elected by their respective peer groups at the school such as teachers, other school personnel, and parents. Council members may serve on the SSC for two years or longer. Our parent members who were elected in 2018-2019 are returning to serve a second term on the 2019-20 SSC. The first SSC meeting will be Monday, October 7, 2019 from 4-5pm in the Library. The meetings are open to all school community members and the public. For more information on SSC and the meeting agenda, please go to: https://www.cambriansd.org/domain/361
English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC):
The ELAC Committee reviews programs and services provided for English Learners. We are looking for parents willing to participate. There will be 3 meetings this year. The first meeting will be held Monday, October 21 from 4-5pm in the Fammatre Library. The meetings are open to the public.
Fammatre Marquee/Sign:
Work has begun to replace our old marquee out front with a new electronic sign. We are expecting the new sign to be installed some time in late October. Thank you to our Home and School Club - the sign, electrical work and installation are all provided thanks to the generous donations of our families.
Engaging Learning Opportunities Sponsored by HSC:
Welcome back to Jolene Voss, our wonderful makerspace teacher. Classrooms will begin visiting and creating in the makerspace this week. We are looking for parent volunteers in order to provide some lunch recess makerspace opportunities as well. In addition, Starting Arts, will be commencing weekly in class performing arts instruction later this month. Our 3-5th grades will participate October 28-January 10, and grades K-2 January 20- March 20. Thank you to our amazing families for making these enriching educational opportunities possible for all Fammatre students.
Coffee with the Principal:
Last Thursday was the first Principal Coffee of the year. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with our families and hear your questions and ideas. If you were not able to join us, there will be more opportunities coming up later this year. Here is the link to the presentation from Thursday.
Student Council:
Student Council is an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council representatives communicate upcoming events to all students. In the fall and again in the spring, two class representatives from each 3rd-5th grade class participate in this service learning opportunity under the leadership of Mrs. Higa and Ms. Gress.
5th Graders at Walden West:
We hope all of our 5th grade students and teachers have an amazing experience learning at outdoor science school. They left this morning around 9am and will be returning on Friday before noon.
Warmly,
Jackie Smith
