Starfest is this week! I know how hard the PTA and all the other volunteers have worked. Please come out and support our school and go on line and bid in the silent auction.
Please dig deep and donate to the Pasta for Pennies fundraiser for leukemia. We have a child in our class that has this disease and is battling it each and everyday with us at her side! You have all been so amazing this year by not bringing your kids to school ill and helping support me with Lysol wipes. This is another way to show her and her family that we love them and support them! So fill up those little boxes and send them in! Thanks!
Please mark your calendars for the April 14 2nd Grade Showcase. Not every grade level gets to put on a performance or be highlighted this way. This is our big moment! The kids have been practicing hard and it will be a great evening.
Have a great week and don't forget early release on Friday! Maybe one day we will have an entire week of regular school days!!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
Langauage Arts-We read several stories that related to baseball. We focused on Jackie Robinson. The kids learned about similes and idioms, literal and non-literal phrases and what these phrases really mean.
Social Studies-We learned what an immigrant is and all about Ellis Island and Angel Island.
Science-We began learning about weather and clouds. The bad storms hit at the most perfect time last week! I hope they shared their knowledge of what type of storm clouds caused the storm and why. They will be excited to have our chicken eggs join us at school on Monday. They are due to hatch around April 8. Egg-citing!
