Throughout the week there has been many great activities that have happened at North Brookfield Elementary School. In grade 6, students worked on the daily five IPick strategies along with building relationship connections in math. In fifth grade, students were reading and conferencing with their teachers and showcasing the numerous titles in their libraries. Many of the students in both fifth and sixth grade were excited to share their novels with me. And fourth-grade students were locking away the dead or overused words and reliving summer memories of the great adventures they went during the summer. In grade 3, the students were creating a human number line starting with zero and learning the procedures for what they need to do after they finish their daily work. Both classes spent a lot of time listening and building relationships with peers. In second grade, students created anchor charts of learning expectations and spent time talking about books, being a good partner, and building relationships. First-graders continued the building relationship theme by developing anchor charts focusing on what makes a great first grader. Students also used manipulatives to begin adding numbers. In kindergarten, our students were read amazing books, worked with lots of friends in different centers, and even occasionally danced and sang. In physical education, the students learned about the golden sneaker award, started developing procedures to make them more fit, such as, running around the gym, jumping jacks, and mountain climbers. In art, students began creating a collage of themselves and their family that will eventually go in the hallway titled "We Are North Brookfield!" And in music, the students reviewed the various types of musical genre that they discussed last year by playing musical bingo. We practiced fire drills, learned new procedures for going outside, and had an amazing week of learning.
