๐Ÿ“ˆ Fundraising Success - THANK YOU!

๐ŸŽ Healthy Ever After

Hickory PTA is excited to offer Healthy Ever After (HEA) again this year!

The HEA goal is to teach kids how to make healthy lifestyle choices.

HEA consists of four or five nutrition lessons per school year that are accompanied by a healthy snack. These snacks expose students to healthy foods that go hand in hand with the nutritious foods served in the cafeteria each day.

Topics focus on the USDAโ€™s MyPlate food diagram, fitness and fun for a healthy heart, limiting sugar intake, eating a rainbow of colors of fruits and vegetables, and many other healthy topics. All lessons were created by a Registered Dietitian and are updated on a regular basis.

The first lesson is about limiting sugar intake.

It will provide students with ideas on how to think about which foods contain more sugar than others and how to make healthier choices. Students will be able to try a honey stick after the lesson if they want as an example of a sweet, yet healthy snack.

๐ŸŽจ Adventures in Art

Adventures In Art has begun and Project 1 is well underway.

"It's My Small World" is inspired by the innovative style of Disney Legend Mary Blair.

This project features a watercolor resist technique using a white oil pastel to outline whimsical shapes like those in Mary's signature style.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for hosting the first Adventure in Art. Our students are having a great time!

๐Ÿ“š The Library is Open!

We're excited to see so many Hounds enjoying the library books and comfy reading areas again!

If you don't have time to volunteer, but still want to help, please visit our Hickory Library Wishlist on Amazon.

We greatly appreciate any donations you are able to make.

When checking out, please make sure you do these two things so we know who to thank for the donations!

  • Click the box labeled Hickory Elementary School Library c/o Adrienne Downs
  • Leave your name in the gift note section at checkout
