Message From the Principal
Good evening, Sabercat Families!
First, I wanted to wish you a Happy Veterans Day! Thank you to any of your family who have served or are currently serving our country. I honor each one of you, and I am very grateful for your service.
It’s great to see so many new students back on campus for the third six weeks of school. Thank you, parents, for your flexibility and understanding regarding the fourth set of student schedule changes this year. I commend our incredible four counselors for the time they spent revising student schedules again for this six weeks.
It is hard to believe that one third of the 2020-21 school year is already completed. The students are doing a great job with wearing their masks and follow the safety protocols in place on campus. We would appreciate your support as parents to continue having conversations with your children about the importance of wearing their face masks and their school ID every day.
I also wanted to take the time to Congratulate the SJH 8A and 7B girls volleyball teams for winning the Blue Division Katy ISD district championship. These 7th and 8th grade ladies had an outstanding season! Thank you to the following coaches for leading our six volleyball teams: Coach Canales, Coach David, Coach Barncastle, Coach Swantner, Coach Carter, and Coach Tsika.
I hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful fall weather. This is my favorite season of the year. It is important to take time for personal self-care during these unusual times. Please check in with your loved ones and friends regularly and make sure they are taking care of themselves. It is important during these times of social distancing to reach out and stay connected in a variety of new ways. I invite my family members (parents, children, and grandchildren) over every Sunday to eat lunch, watch football and play board games and cards. It’s a great way to recharge every weekend and works as a form of self-care for this momma.
Have a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ann Lalime

The free rapid COVID-19 test is in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) COVID-19 Testing Project and consists of:
- A nasal-based testing option (saliva-based option is still pending)
- Results in 20 minutes
The free student COVID-19 rapid test is available at the District’s Agricultural Sciences Center located at 5801 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road, Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
SJH KVA & F2F OPTION WINDOW
The next window to change your child’s learning environment (from KVA to Face to Face or from Face to Face to KVA) for the secondary 4th six weeks or the elementary 3rd nine weeks opens from November 18-December 4, 2020.
As a reminder, the option form will be available on next week's Newsletter. This window is in place to allow campus staff to make scheduling adjustments and class balances prior to leaving for the winter holiday.
All campuses and offices will be closed December 21-January 1, 2021. Teachers and staff will return Monday, January 4 with students returning Tuesday, January 5, 2021 for the start of the second semester.
CTE Courses
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses listed below require in-person instruction/lab in order to receive skills practice and access to specialized equipment and technology to successfully meet the requirements of each course
As we enter the 3rd six weeks grading period, it is crucial for students enrolled in these CTE courses to fulfill all requirements, both at home and in-person, to earn course credit and continue in their respective CTE course for the spring 2021 semester.
KVA students who are enrolled in one of the following CTE courses must elect to return to in-person learning to remain enrolled in the CTE course second semester. The remaining TEKS and CTE contact hours associated with these second semester courses, that require the use of specific software and hardware, are not conducive to (or feasible in) the KVA platform. If a parent, of a student enrolled in one of the courses below, elects to have their student remain in KVA, the student’s counselor will work to schedule the student in a different course for the spring semester.
