"Students Today; Leaders Tomorrow!" ~May 2023
Principal's Message
"If you do right every day, it makes the special days more special." By Ms. Della Mae
Every year we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Month in May. It is a designated time of the year when people are asked to shine a light on the arduous work that we do all year long. And yes, it is a labor of love, but even love can hurt sometimes. With so many things that need to be addressed before the first bell rings, it is always helpful if we can get the support of our families and community members. When I ask for support, I don't expect it to come without the potential for discord. Understanding disagreements are a part of life, I expect and welcome them in the interest of finding a resolution. To be angry or demanding with an urgency that can't always be met to everyone's personal satisfaction is not a reasonable response to solve a problem.
As a dedicated educator, I don't have the luxury of pointing out problems without the responsibility of idealizing a solution. If so, I would not continually work to find ways to inspire our young people to strive to be and do better. Educators are up against a lot of obstacles, many of which we can't change. Despite the struggles we face, personally and professionally, we seek ways to reignite our young people. We enjoy the accolades that we receive on those specially designated days. However, we truly feel appreciated when it is shown continuously. This world we live in can be cold. It would be great if we could be a source of warmth for each other- and not just because someone said to!

Twin Hills Educators of The Year... We Are Because of You!
- Mrs. Harmony Senior was voted as 'Teacher of the Year' for all of the wonderful work that she does. Her colleagues describe her as an exemplary teacher who is a valuable asset to art instruction and the entire building. She has a vast knowledge of her content but also researches ways to innovatively engage students in her craft. In addition to being an outstanding art instructor, Ms. Senior is an active participant in school activities, serving as an advisor for Student Council, National Elementary Honor Society, and Art Club, and is a member of the PTA. Additionally, Ms. Senor beautifies our school with her vibrant and creative gifts!
- Ms. Tiffany Purnell was voted 'Educational Servies Professional of the Year'. This acknowledgment is not enough to capture ALL that Ms. Purnell does to assist students, staff, and school administration. Ms. Purnell leads the counseling corps of Twin Hills by being assistive and supportive. From the time she arrives until the time she departs each day, Ms. Purnell is working for the betterment of our school by facilitating restorative meetings, scheduling I&RS meetings, leading teacher team meetings, and facilitating student Emotional Support Learning groups. She is invaluable to us, and we couldn't select a more collaborative and caring school counselor.
These educators were recognized with this honor this year, but this is what they do every day of every year!
