Thank you Flanders Fire Department!
Character Trait for October is Respect!
Our Students are Busy Busy!
Message from the Principal
Respect lessons are continuing in the classrooms and are going well! Please ask your child(ren) about what they are learning and how they can share respect with classmates.
In honor of Fire Prevention Week, the Flanders Fire Department was here to talk to our (Pre-K, K & 1st grade) students about what they do and how they help our community. It is such a beneficial tradition for our students and we are grateful for the collaboration with these volunteer community members.
Mountain View along with the rest of the schools in district, were chosen for the Bronze award for Sustainable NJ. Schools that earn this certification are considered by their peers, professional associations, experts, and civic organizations in New Jersey to be among the leading schools in the state. And the Digital Schools Star recognizes that district and schools as leaders in implementing successful digital learning practices. The Mount Olive Board of Education will be acknowledging these awards at the October 25th meeting. Feel free to attend the meeting as we celebrate this accomplishment.
Also above is a button that leads to a sample of our morning announcements video created by our 5th graders. Assisted by counseling staff and school administration, our students have taken on the challenge of recording daily morning announcements. Three students come to our "Recording Studio" each day. They each have a job, News Reporter, Technical Support and Editor. They utilize, our iPads, teleprompter, green screen and iMovie tools to create detailed and animated morning announcements for our school community. I am so impressed by their "stage presence," and knowledge of creating movies!
Please be sure to send your child to school with a sweatshirt and/or jacket each day. We will always try to get them outside as much as possible.
Please be mindful at arrival and dismissal:
Car Line is in the Linwood Lot- please pull all the way up. Drop your child off/pick up on the passenger side only. Staff has been handing out signs. Please put this in your windshield when you pick-up your child.
Walkers- Please enter/exit through the Main Office and Gazebo doors. If you are close enough and would consider walking, please do so. This will help the car line move quicker.
Please do not drop off on Clover Hill Drive. This is very dangerous.
For the safety of our school community be sure to follow these guidelines:
DO NOT make a K- turn or U-Turn on Clover Hill Drive at arrival or dismissal
I witnessed a car almost hitting another because one was making a U-turn and the other was parked diagonally in front of a fire hydrant.
I also witnessed a car stop as if they were pulling over to make a U-turn to park on Clover Hill Drive at dismissal
There are PLENTY of ways to take a side street to put you in the direction you need to go.
DO NOT park on Clover Hill Drive in front of the "No Parking Signs" They are there for a reason.
DO NOT walk across the street at any other place than the crosswalk. There is too much traffic for you to walk your children or have your children walk alone in between parked cars and buses.
Thank you for following these guidelines. These past few weeks have been much better. Let's continue to all work together to ensure the safety of our school community.
Pick-up Patrol is almost up and running. Once we have all the information, I will share it with you. This is an application that allows you to tell us the dismissal plan for your child. If there is change for the plan for a day, you can make it using the application.
