Principal's Chat

Our school year is off to a great start! Thank you to our PTO for hosting a fun Back to School Bash!! We had such a great family turnout.

As promised at the end of last year............this year is the year of the parent. We would love to reengage parents with the school after 2 long years of Covid protocols. Please consider volunteering for events that will occur throughout the year. Our PTO is always looking for help with donation of items for teachers and classrooms as well as working at school events.

Stay tuned for ways you can be part of your child's school year!!

Our year is off to a great start........ read more below about the new exceptional achievers program that has joined our Eads family. Also, read about one of Indiana's finest teachers.

Welcoming the Munster Aspire program to EADS

The ASPIRE classroom serves elementary aged students from all across Munster. Our Exceptional Achievers attend general education classes with their peers and receive direct instruction within our classroom as well. We utilize an alternate curriculum that aligns with the Indiana Content Connectors and works to help students develop the skills they will need to be successful and as independent as possible. Our students have some amazing abilities and challenges. We celebrate each victory along our learning journey.

Mrs. Rachel Zabaneh came with her class from Frank Hammond. She can be seen smiling all day long. Her warm and caring attitude is an asset to Eads School.

Please join us in welcoming a new group of students to Eads. Throughout the year we will train peer role models to work with students in the ASPIRE classroom.

Meet Mrs. Farner Our School Social Worker

My name is Mrs. Farner and I am the new school social worker for

Eads Elementary.

I am so excited to get to know everyone. I have so many fun things planned this year and cannot wait for what’s ahead I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Saint Xavier University and received my Masters Degree in Social Work at Governors State University. I have a concentration in school social work and have

been a school social worker for 3 years.

Our August lifeline is friendship. This week as the guest community speaker I welcomed our new classroom at Eads, Ms. Zabaneh's class. Ms. Zabaneh's class is part of our ASPIRE program and filled with many unique individuals looking to be successful despite obstacles and challenges. I read the book called " Every Child Is Different" in order to teach students about accepting differences, showing respect, and being a good friend to those that are different than us.

!!!! Eads Teacher is Indiana Department of Education Teacher of the Year Finalist !!!!

Jenny Herold is among 25 finalists for the Indiana Teacher of the Year award which was announced by the Indiana Department of Education last week.

Mrs.Herold is a fourth grade teacher. She has 21 years of teaching experience, seven of them at St. Thomas More School in Munster and 14 at Eads.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Indiana Teacher of the Year committee as a Top 25 finalist,” Herold said. “My passion for education has only increased throughout my years in the classroom, and it has been my students, peers, leaders, and family who have encouraged me to continue to grow and learn. I’m lucky to teach in an environment where I am supported and constantly challenged to be better. Teaching is my passion, and it will always be a significant part of who I am.”
