Mission Statement
St. Anthony Catholic School celebrates each individual as a unique child of God, provides a safe, Christ-centered environment that promotes cultural diversity, academic achievement, and challenges each of us to serve the school, parish, and community.
More than a school, we are a family.
May is the Month of Mary!
A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers
Good and Gentle God,
we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women of theory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings.
Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.
Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for the physical and spiritual growth of their children.
Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood. Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most. ~Amen

End of the Year
With May in full swing, many parents are asking about end of the year logistics. Please know that Mrs. Becker is working closely with area principals and diocesan officials to plan out the logistics of everything from picking up materials, returning books, computers, iPads, etc. to graduation activities. In these unprecedented times, the logistical planning is especially challenging. We are committed to doing the very best for all of our families, while keeping everyone safe. Every event and activity must be carefully planned out. Directives from our governor and the CDC are changing daily, and we are always fine tuning our plans. We recognize that you must make plans and are curious about what is going to happen. We will let you know just as soon as we are able. Please recognize that some of these plans are out of our control, and we are awaiting directives from the Bishop and Superintendent. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope to have some plans ironed out and ready for communication to you next week.
A question that is being asked by parents is whether our school year will be shortened or lengthened. We anticipate finishing the year on May 29, the scheduled final school day.

Distance Learning and Technology
Conferencing
More than ever, our teachers are committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the parents of our students. Communication is going to be critical in the coming weeks as we all embark on distance learning. Your child's teacher will be available via email and telephone. In the coming days, you will be receiving information from your child's teacher(s) about the best way to reach them and to request a phone conference. Teachers are very willing to schedule a time for a call during the day or on scheduled evenings.
*Be aware that teachers are not permitted to hold individual telephone or video conferences with a student. Per Diocesan Safe Environment policy, a teacher may hold a conference with more than one student at a time, with a student and a parent, or have another staff member present.

Tips for Distance Learning
- Maintain a routine for your child, including bedtimes and waking up in the morning. Recognize that it may not be the same times as regular school days, but consistency and routines are important for our children.
- Have children make their beds, eat breakfast, and get dressed - just as they would do if they were coming into the school daily.
- Establish a work area for your child, regardless of how old he/she is. Limit distractions such as cell phones, television, radio, conversations, etc.
- Help your child maintain a balance in his/her life. During this time of social distancing, identify safe activities, free of electronics, for your child to do inside and outside.
- Use this crucial time in our country to create some special family time. Play board games, do a puzzle, go for a bike ride together, facetime long distance family members, read a book as a family, have a family movie night.
- Most important, please keep in mind the enormous stress that your young child may be experiencing through all of this. Try to eliminate watching the news or discussing this with your child in the room.
- Know that you aren't in this alone. Your extended school family is here to support you and your child. Your child's teacher(s) is available to help with academic or technology questions. Mrs. Valenzuela is very happy to assist with any psychological concerns that you or your child may be facing during this time. Father Luis is available to support your spiritual needs.
