It Happened at School....High School Students Learn about CPR
Almost 200 students per semester that attend health classes held at the high school (mostly juniors and seniors, with a few sophomores and a freshman) learned how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on adults and infants. CPR training is a graduation requirement since 2015, and this training held at the high school exceeds that requirement; as it is an actual certification level through the American Heart Association.
This training covered adult, child, and infant CPR, use of the AED, and choking; providing 1- and 2-person CPR training, hands-only CPR training, as well as training using rescue breathing. Students were offered an optional AHA 2-year Community Certification upon the completion of the program, for a fee of $25.
Pictured above are students in Christine Kraai's health class at the high school as they learned how to perform infant CPR.
