APS: Natural & Renewable Resources
Weekly Update Newsletter: Oct 9th, 2015
October is Energy Action Month!
I hope you are all having a great week before Fall Break! Speaking of which, it's a great time to be a "super saver" and remind fellow teachers and staff to completely turn off, shut down, and unplug those computers, appliances, lights, etc. to get a jump start on saving energy over Fall Break! The "OFF" switch is there for a reason!
Just a quick update on progress with the Energy Challenge Competition and a really cool new tool from Lucid. I betcha didn't know this week's equivalent of your school's energy use in, you guessed it, HAMBURGERS?!!
Check out a screenshot below between Vista Peak P8 and Aurora Frontier's energy use! You can also see for yourself here: www.buildingdashboard.com/clients/aps
As always, I'm here to help find resources, answer questions, and connect you with outside professionals to engage your student groups!
Thank you for sharing your time and talent with our students and here's to another week of going green!
Mracheck Environment Club
Students worked to create light switch tags and practiced presentations to get the word out about saving electricity in their school!
How many hamburgers worth of energy does your school use?

Congrats to AWCPA!
The CHOICES Club at AWCPA was accepted to the H2O Outdoors Camp-- a three-day educational program held at Keystone Science School. The program, sponsored by Keystone Science School, Colorado River Water Conservation District, Aurora Water, and Denver Water, is open to all Colorado high school students.
