Health and Wellness Update
August 27th, 2021
Hello Zion 6 Staff,
Everyone's hard work and dedication is amazing to be a part of!
Yesterday, the governor of Illinois passed a mandate for all staff of P-12 schools to either be vaccinated or participate in weekly Covid testing. The district will send out more clarification and updates surrounding this new mandate. If you are not vaccinated, it is required you either get vaccinated by September 5th or you participate in the districts BinaxNOW covid testing program. If you are vaccinated, but you don't want to disclose your vaccination status, you must participate in the Covid testing.
Please send your CDC vaccinations cards to nmurray@zion6.org, OR if you don't want to disclose, then contact me about BinaxNOW testing.
Thanks again!
WHAT IS A COVID SYMPTOM?
What type of Covid related symptom constitutes a visit to the nurse?
Teachers and staff are still using thermometers provided by the district to check temps as needed for children that seem ill. If you check your students temperature and it is over 100.4, please send to the nurse.
If your student has one or more of the below Covid symptoms, please send to the nurse.
o Fever over 100.4
o Cough
o Shortness of Breath
o New Loss of Taste or Smell
o Body Aches
o Sore Throat
o Vomiting
o Diarrhea
Also, your school's nurse should have supplied you with bandaids for any cuts or scrapes that can be easily covered.
Headaches and stomachaches are not Covid related and most often will resolve with a good meal, a trip to the bathroom, some water, and some quiet time.
Further Mask Restrictions
Please wear your maska at all times in all district buildings, with or without kids present.
Vaccines

High Transmission
The Delta variant is more likely to affect children than teh Alpha variant.
Please do all you can to ensure the safety of your students in class. If you witness a symptomatic child or a situation that requires a health and wellness intervention, please call your buildings nurse.
