Mountain Lion Minute
Week of November 23rd
Good Morning Mountain Lion Families,
As you are aware, on Friday, November 13, the Montgomery County Board of Health passed an order requiring all schools, both public and private, to support virtual education only for a defined amount of time over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a preventative measure to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. All NPSD students will begin 100% virtual instruction from home beginning on Monday, November 23 with schools scheduled to reopen to students on Monday, December 7.
In order for your child to not be marked absent during this virtual environment, they must log in AND complete their assignments for the day. If your child will be absent, you must still report the absence to our attendance secretary, Mrs. Faia, by calling the school and leaving a message or by emailing her at email@example.com.
Our teachers are working incredibly hard to make virtual learning engaging for our students. It is a challenge for teachers to engage with students when cameras are turned off. We highly encourage your child to turn on their camera during instruction. Google Meets now has a virtual background students can put up for the extra layer of privacy.
It has been a pleasure seeing our students in our buildings and we will miss being in person with them. I truly hope this is only a short term closure and we can get our students back in the building soon!
We will be following the same schedule we are currently using. Please see below for additional important information.
NPSD School Nutrition Services- Curbside Pick-Up Dates

"The extended care program is often forgotten however it is an intrical part of our school community. Kim's dedication to creating a welcoming, caring environment is second to none. She is extremely organized, caring, and well respected by the kids and staff of extended care. Kim fosters a friendly personality and is truly passionate about everyone in her program. The kids really appreciate her plethora of activities, games, and arts and crafts and are excited to come every day. Not 1 child in extended care complains, and that is a testament to her hard work, caring spirit, and original ideas. Montgomery students benefit from having Kim at our school, and we hope for many more years under her leadership. Thanks Kim for all you do to make extended care a fun, enjoyable place for our students!"
