Roads
Dear Parents
This week we discussed how roads help people in their everyday lives and why they think we have roads. Children were very eager to participate and share their ideas on what they knew and learned. During morning discussions, we also discussed the questions who uses roads in their jobs and how could we get home without a road.
Children explored how to cross an obstacle, pretending it was a river, and demonstrated their solutions using blocks and planks. They were very enthusiastic to participate and came up with interesting solutions to cross over the “river”. We discussed as well what happens if you can’t go over an obstacle and how a tunnel is the best way to handle an obstacle. They experienced going through a tunnel created with a table. They had the opportunity to practice moving through the tunnel in different ways.
Next week, we will continue our discussion about roads, learning how roads are made and who builds and repairs roads.
