Arctic Blast
Glacier Ridge Elementary School 04.14.22
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
We have completed our first week of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness for grades 3-5. The testing window ends next friday and we should be complete by then. We do not have a date from the state when these results will be available. When we have this information we will share it with you.
Many of our 4th and 5th-grade students entered the district Future Chef competition and we are happy to announce that four of our students were selected (see their names below). Thank you to everyone that participated. The competition is open to the public at Hannah Beardsley this Thursday. If you arrive around 4 PM you will see the students cooking and then competing with their displays and tastings.
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend and hope you all enjoy your time together.

Fitnessgram Assessment
After spring break (April 4-May 20, 2022), District 47 physical education teachers will be completing FitnessGram testing for all 3rd-8th grade students. FitnessGram is a nationally recognized, criterion-referenced assessment to determine students’ fitness levels based on what is optimal for good health. The assessment measures the five health-related components of physical fitness that have been identified as important for overall health: cardiovascular endurance, body composition, and muscular endurance, strength, and flexibility.
Incoming Middle School Parent Event
Parents and guardians are invited to attend an informative 6th Grade Parent Panel event where they will learn all about the student transition to middle school from current District 47 middle school parents. Panel discussions consist of an overview of the middle school experience, tips for a smooth student transition, and a Q&A session. The panel is comprised of parents from all three middle schools and the topics covered will be the same at all meetings. All three presentations will be provided in English and Spanish.
Regardless of your child’s home school for next year, we encourage you to attend the parent panel meeting below that works best for your schedule:
