Together in Learning and Faith
January 13 - Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School
OLA Catholic School Review
January 15, 16 and 17, we will be conducting a School Improvement Process in your school community. The purpose of this process of gathering, analyzing and synthesizing information is to assist in the creation of a strategic plan that continues to move and improve your school in the area of Catholicity. Our ultimate goal is to impact student learning and to ensure that children are successful.
The School Improvement Process was developed by Alberta Education specifically for Catholic Schools. The process involves gathering data and evidence through surveys, interviews, documentation review, and general observations. To make this a success, we need your assistance.
What can you do to help us with the process?
Talk to your children about their school experience and how they can contribute to the process by speaking with the review team or by taking a survey during this week. All Grade 4 students will be surveyed and some of them will be chosen to be interviewed.
Let the school know that you would be willing to have a short interview with a member of the team. This can be conducted in person or by phone during the day and into the early evening. If interested let the school know your name, contact number, and best time to reach you. You may also send an email to paulc@eics.ab.ca to indicate your interest.
As an OLA parent, please take time to fill out the parent survey at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OLA_parent
Please note, only one survey per household will be registered by the program. The survey is now available until noon Wednesday, January 16.
If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please contact Mme Gravelle or contact me directly at 780-449-6455 or by email at paulc@eics.ab.ca.
Yours In Catholic Education,
Paul Corrigan Mme Pamela Gravelle

Building Security and Visitors to OLA
Continuing our commitment to keeping your children safe, we respectfully ask all visitors to OLA, including parents, to please sign in at the office when entering the building. Our responsibility in the office is to know who is in the building at all times. We will begin asking you to wear a visitor's tag so that staff and students know that you have checked in at the office.
If you or another family member is picking up your child between 8:30AM and 3:19PM, please come to the office and we will gladly call your child to meet you there. This will minimize disruptions in class and you will help us keep your children safe.
Winter and Parking
A reminder regarding parking for visitors or when dropping off/picking up children: Parents are welcome to park in the north-west parking spaces and parking lot. Parking is also permitted along the west side of Sherridon Drive south of the crosswalk, or north of the crosswalk on the east side of Sherridon Drive. Parking directly in front of the school is reserved for staff to ensure all vehicles parked there remain fully stationary while buses arrive and while children are out front of the school. This also applies to families dropping children off for PreKindergarten or Out-of-School care.
EICS Transportation
If you ever need to contact EICS Transportation with questions or concerns about your child's busing they can be reached at 780-449-6480. The staff are available at the end of the day while your child is on their way home and are able to contact your child's bus driver by radio if necessary. We are also still here at the school until 4:00 pm if you need us - you can reach your OLA Team at 780-998-3716.
At the bottom of each week's Smore we will also have a button linked directly to the EICS transportation website with all of their contact information.
