VANWAGNEN NEWS
We are so fortunate to have dedicated, caring and knowledgeable teachers at the Columbia School District. I am reminded daily of the valuable impact they make and the positive relationships they share with the young people in our community.
Every year the Jackson Magazine hosts a search for the Top Teachers in Jackson County. Thank you to the Hurst Foundation and the Jackson Community Foundation for sponsoring this program.
There are nomination forms available in each school office. You may also complete your nomination form online. The link is attached below. Columbia teachers have been honored in the past by the Jackson Magazine. We hope to continue the tradition of honoring excellent teachers. All nomination forms are due by October 18, 2019.

STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
SAFETY is our top priority during arrival and dismissal times. Please take note of a few important items that will keep our children safe as they enter and exit our buildings.
- If you transport your own child, please have them enter and exit your vehicle from the right lane in front of the school building. You may also pick up and drop off by parking in the lot at the west end of the CUES building. Please do not park in the middle lot (located between the buildings).
- Students are NEVER allowed to cross traffic to and from the middle lot before or after school. They must utilize the pickup and drop-off lane or the west parking lot.
- If you are picking your child up from school prior to dismissal, please come into the office to sign your child out.
- If your child has a change in after school transportation, please contact the office by 2 pm.
POPCORN FRIDAY
Popcorn Friday begins on October 11, 2019. You may purchase popcorn for your child for the school year. An annual pass is $3.00 per student for the entire school year. Forms will be coming soon.
The PTO is in need of parent volunteers to help with the popcorn. Please contact Amy Vanderpool at 517.745.5341 to volunteer or with any questions or concerns.
