North Side Elementary School Gets A Mobile CHROMEBOOK Cart

Chromebooks are laptop computers designed primarily to work in "the cloud" .Because students will have access to their class work anytime and anywhere. Our students will be learning how to use Google Docs, Spreadsheets and Presentations all through Google Apps For Education. Our students in Grades 3 & 4 will be learning to use the Chromebook mobile laptops in their classroom and computer lab.

Google Accounts for 3rd and 4th Grade Students

Google Usernames and Passwords

In computer classes the students will be learning how to use their Google accounts which gives them access to Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Apps for Education.

Chromebooks run with the Chrome operating system which requires students to log in with a Google Account. Students in Grades 3 and 4 each have individual Google accounts with usernames. These log-ins will allow our students to share work with their teachers and create, share and collaborate on class projects in school and at home.

This card is your child's "log-in" information for their Google for Education Account. Their username and password must not be shared with anyone.

Students will not have Email access through this system.

Who will teach the students about Google Drive and Chromebooks

Mrs. Sroka, North Side Educational Technology Specialist is introducing Google Drive to all our 3rd and 4th grade students during their computer specials designated time. Each class will introduce tools within Google Drive through presentations, fun activities and meaningful lessons that tie directly to the curriculum. Classroom teachers will be incorporating Google tools and the Chromebooks throughout the year.

Will the students have access to Google Drive outside of school?

One of the best things about our students having their own Google Drive is that they will have access to these tools outside of school too. They will be able to access of the tools at home and anyplace they are connected online.

How do the students get to Google Drive? How do they find it at home?

They can get to Google Drive using either a PC, MAC or tablet. If they are using a PC they must use the CHROME web browser, not Internet Explorer.
