From The Counseling Office...

Camp Invention is looking for interns to volunteer their time for 1 week this summer. We are finally going to have Camp Invention again at MSES this summer, the week of July 18-22. It serves kids entering K-6th Grades and focuses on hands-on STEM activities, the engineering process, and team collaboration. We are looking for high school Leadership Interns who are excited about working with student groups and earning 40 volunteer hours from the National Inventors Hall of Fame. The experience looks pretty awesome on internship and job applications too. You can read more about this summer's modules at the Camp Invention we
bsite.

Remember, it is just one intense week (and a training day the Friday before, July 15th) so hopefully it won't interfere with your summer plans too much. If you are interested please email Kristen Kanaga at KKanaga@mssd14.org.

From The Technology Department...

Children use technology for everyday activities such as relaxing to music, doing homework and keeping in touch with friends on social media. Students also may look for physical/mental support through technology, as well as look to find ways to express themselves as individuals.

It's important for parents to remember that kids need to be able to independently identify acceptable and unacceptable behavior with online content.

The checklist worksheet below can help parents have a conversation with their children about Internet safety rules and tools and to become more familiar with technology supervision.
